IBM boosts campaign for smarter industries
CEBU, Philippines - IBM has intensified its campaign to push for smarter industries, by re-introducing its ability to integrate power industry solutions that assemble the best hardware, software and consulting services into one package.
During the recently concluded Industry Symposium for local clients and business partners, IBM’s industry point of views and industry expertise were showcased with focus on five industries including banking and financial markets, government, manufacturing, retail & CPG.
In banking and financial markets, banks will create shareholder value investing in sophisticated insight to become client-centric, reduce complexity and optimize risk. Also, business intelligence and analytics and mobility are the identified as two elements most frequently chosen by banking chief information officers (CIOs) for use in visionary plans.
Best practices in government that are needed for implementing effective programs with limited resources are also given solutions by the IBM, with ultimate goal to improve decision-making and elevate over-all performance.
The struggling manufacturing industry in the Philippines, would be given solutions to continously improve the productivity and flexibility of global operations to leverage economies of scale, get supply chain visibility and have access to specialized service and skills. Product commoditizations such as Smart Phones are driving service transformation and is the next more important business-to-business gadget.
While, the global rental market is evolving, IBM re-introduces its solutions for the dynamic retail industry in the Philippines.
“Retailers face fierce competition from other retailers, manufacturers, and from all selling directly to consumers. They need to become customer-focused enterprise, providing consumers with a seamless shopping experience that delivers the merchandise they want, where they want it and at a price they are willing to pay,” said Irene Catane, country executive for general business, IBM Philippines.
She added that as the Philippine economy continues to regain equilibrium, leaders have to decide on how best to operate and thrive in the “new normal”—velocity and volatility.
“Opportunities for these industries to become smarter are vast and IBM is in a good position to support them,” she added.
