How Amazing is Grace!
Oftentimes, we view grace as something big. And truly there is nothing small in the largeness of our God. However, because of this great expectation, we fail to acknowledge the little sweet moments that hold each bind together.
Take the case of our business. In the midst of a worldwide economic depression, we are still able to continue our trade. We proceed with our day to day grind and even have time to celebrate new sales, better deals and good bargains.
When we focus on the constricting dollar, or the growing concern over the euros, we forget the gaining peso.
When we look at the problems at work, we miss the strengthening relationships with our workmates as we strive to solve problems together and draw on each other’s expertise to win over the circumstance we face.
There are many minute details we fail to notice as we focus our attention and energies on the seemingly insurmountable debts and problems that befall our business. Like the how and why we were able to make the big moves with small steps.
A day should begin with a prayer. In our company, we believe that it is God who makes us gain. We gain all the time if we choose to look at things in a positive way. When we do not make our targets, we ask why and work on the answers. With that we gain wisdom and reap better results in the next try. We acknowledge that “God has allowed us to fail in the small things so we can conquer the bigger battles.
God has indeed ruled my work. He has allowed me many privileges only grace can afford.
I was in a short trip to Samar as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility program. We had a medical mission there. The drive to the countryside treated us to a breathtaking view of the San Juanico Bridge. To this day, I still can not quell the wonder of seeing how the architects and engineers pooled their genius to build such a beautiful and sturdy link between two islands that also started the road cruises to the rest of the country. This has given more opportunity for business to develop there.
But my story does not really end there. In fact it begins when we took the plane to Tacloban City. The ride was a bit rough considering that we were told we would expect a storm anytime in the week. Of course, since the job had to be done, we took our chances and rest our confidence on the airline, the air traffic office, PAG-ASA and God; sadly, in that order. But it was only God who could guarantee our passage. True enough, God let us through. After seconds of roller coaster dips, we had a taste of a fighter plane swerve before landing. But we were safe.
In Samar, the rain began with pelts. Apparently, our weather no longer allows for long drizzles. Sleets of rain with gusts of wind are more the in thing now. So when we prepared to go back to Cebu, my mind just went off with its normal conversation with God. “So Lord, we’ll take the plane again. Can we please just have a smooth and safe trip?”
We did.
When I parked the car and went to my meeting after arriving in Cebu, the rain poured and the wind wound around the trees, causing the leaves to swirl, while we were having dinner with my friends. Then it stopped when I was about to go home. Just when I put off the light to sleep, I heard the running rain as it thumped over our roof. The night was cold.
How amazing is God’s grace.
