Acer Philippines targets 25% growth this year
CEBU, Philippines - Acer Philippines targets to achieve at least 25 percent growth this year, eyeing the regional and remote areas in the country as its main growth driver.
Acer Philippines, Inc. general manager Manuel Wong said the company is doubling its efforts to sustain its leadership in the IT hardware market in the Philippines.
Part of its plan is to offer pocket-friendly packages to consumers in less explored areas in the country, including the remote areas and secondary cities. The company plans to offer netbooks, PCs at affordable prices such as a P50 a day installment basis.
Wong also added that aside from the upbeat consumer appetite for computers, the corporate side of Acer servicing the Small Medium Enterprises is also showing positive growth in the regional areas.
In 2010, Acer Philippines posted a 20 percent growth. This year, Wong said the company aims at expanding its growth bottomline to 25 percent.
“We want to create awareness that PCs, netbooks, [and other technology gadgets] are now affordable. Installment plans are very attractive,” said Wong on the sidelines during the opening of its Acer Cebu service center.
The opening of Acer’s first service center outside of Manila, here in Cebu, reinforces its commitment of extending its “service-oriented” style of business to its customers in Southern Philippines, Wong said.
Acer, one of the world’s top IT companies, was recently named as the country’s top PC vendor by some IT organizations in the Philippines.
The Acer Customer Service Center handles nationwide customer support services via a partnership between Acer and more than 100 computer dealers across the Philippines, thus providing easy access to service for customers.
According to Wong, with the growing demand on after-sales support and service of loyal and growing Acer end-users in the Visayan region, Acer Philippines Inc., invested on this facility in order to build a comprehensive local and regional spare parts inventory.
“By doing so, we hope to fast track the repair process flow and increase spare parts availability for whatever problems customers may encounter with their Acer products, apart from rendering customer service and technical support,” Wong said.
Aside from this, the center will also act as a showroom for world-class products and even house a research and training facility for Acer’s partners.
“All Acer national subsidiaries have common standard to follow in terms of facilities and capabilities, and the Acer Service Center here in the Philippines, whether in Manila and in Cebu, is no exception. Acer, really sees to its that the renowned Acer service standards are available to any Acer office around the world so customers in Manila and Cebu can expect the same quality service, or perhaps even better,” he stressed.
