Logistics firm upgrades service to meet needs of Cebu exporters

- Quennie S. Bronce -

CEBU, Philippines - UPS, one of the global leaders in logistics, has upgraded its Cebu charter plane to boost its capacity in meeting the growing requirements of Cebu exporters in moving their express and freight volumes.

The B-737 charter plane, which replaced the smaller Dornier 328-100, operates six times weekly, linking Cebu to the UPS Philippines’ gateway in Clark Field, Pampanga. From there, the shipments will be loaded to a UPS plane that flies to the Shenzhen Asia Pacific hub allowing Cebu exporters to connect to the rest of the world.

“This upgraded charter aircraft is a testament of UPS’ commitment to growth in the Philippines. We are ready to support the growing commerce of Cebu exporters with major trading markets in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the United States,” said KK Leung, president of South District, UPS Asia Pacific Region.

“Cebu is an important market for UPS Philippines and we are constantly looking for ways to improve our service whether customers need express, air freight or other logistics solutions,” said Tim Gohoc, managing director of UPS Philippines. “We will provide Filipino businesses access to the rest of world and help them compete effectively in the global market.”

Customers in Cebu also enjoy a later pick up time of 4:30pm, which allows them to prepare the package and shipment documents adding to their ease of doing business.
