1,500 jobs up for grabs at Jobstreet fair
CEBU, Philippines - At least 1,500 jobs will be made available to job seekers in Cebu and other neighboring provinces, as job site giant Jobstreet.com opens up its three-month jobs fair in partnership with SM City Cebu.
The first of its kind concept dubbed “Cebu Career Hub” will formally open on February 25 at SM Cebu shopping mall to provide jobseekers a proper venue to look for their “dream” jobs, across the industry sectors.
The one stop career center will not only provide available jobs to seekers, but also consultation, on-the-spot hiring and interviews, and other services, said Jobstreet marketing director Yoda Buyco.
In a press conference, Buyco said that over 500 employers will participate in the career center facility, and that jobs available are not limited to local employment but jobs abroad are also up for grabs.
“We are bringing the job hunting to the mall, where the job hunters like to go,” said Buyco, adding that the two companies have partnered in order to make job seeking easier, readily accessible.
The Cebu Career Hub targets to help not only the present roster of jobseekers, but graduating students and early jobbers as well, she said.
Services that will further empower the Cebuano jobseekers will be readily available in its booth space at the 2nd floor of SM Cebu starting in the 25th of this month, and will be available daily until May 25, 2011, from 9 in the morning to seven in the evening.
Participating employers, include top notch companies, such as SM Group of Companies, Xlibris, Lexmark, Stream Global Services, NCR Cebu Development, Wellmade Manufacturing, Sea Olympus, A.D.S. Philippines, Zylun Philippines, Inc., Primary Structures, Sheridan Regency Hotels, Fastcargo, Philamlife Cebu, Savvysherpa Asia Inc., and Trax Technologies, among others.
Buyco said this initiative is part of Jobstreet.com and SM City Cebu’s contribution to the government’s call urging local companies to invest in the country’s resource, to make the country more competitive.
Jobstreet.com which was established in Malaysia in 1995, and now present in seven countries, has over 15 thousand companies in its data-base, and growing.
The online job site recorded a total of three million job seekers, actively accessing the site in the Philippines, about 300 thousand of which are coming from the Central Visayas.
Job seekers can also avail of the free-of-charge consultations in the “Career Center Hub” to be facilitated by Jobstreet certified career consultants, she said. (FREEMAN)
