Freeman Cebu Business

Economic briefing to tackle scientific, Feng Shui aspects

- Ehda Dagooc -

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Business Club and Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) will once again join forces to give business sector in Cebu a clearer economic outlook and prospects for the year.

Using two perspectives—scientific and economic views with Chinese beliefs on Feng Shui, will be the two main objectives of the upcoming Economic Briefing to be hosted by the two organizations, this coming February 8 at the Hotel Elizabeth.

Local economist Perry Fajardo will give participants the overview of the 2010 economy and a perspective where the country is heading this year, especially in Central Visayas region.

Fajardo, a professor of Economics at the University of San Carlos, will also expound on why and how the Philippines, particularly Central Visayas and Cebu were affected and rebounded in 2010 from the last global recession.

During the half-day briefing Fajardo is expected to talk on the opportunities that should be taken advantage of by capitalists and businessmen in Cebu, as the New Year offers a lot of opportunities.

However, while outlook is so far promising for 2011, Fajardo will also talk on how to adopt different mechanisms and approaches, while the environment is dramatically changing, and competition game is entirely different from what it was.

Fajardo will also guide business players on how to make Cebu, and the region the important player in the country’s over-all economic growth, among others.

Renowned Feng Shui expert Maritess Allen, the chief executive officer (CEO) of World of Feng Shui (WOFS) will also join Fajardo, to give a different perspective in the economic path of the Philippines and Cebu.

Allen, who is one of the popular Feng Shui consultants in the country among top executive and multinational companies, will bring her expertise in the use of Feng Shui in business to the participants.

Considering that most Chinese, including Filipino businessmen uphold strongly the belief of Feng Shui, Allen’s suggestion and recommendation is expected to give light to businessmen on how to behave in the year of the Rabbit.

Allen will give a talk on the general outlook for the year of the golden rabbit in line with business/wealth, relationship, health, career, education, stock markets, remedies, cures and enhancers for the year.

Chaired by Carmel de Pio-Salvador, the half-day economic briefing is expected to give back-to-back load of information and guidance for business players as they are preparing to take advantage of the promising 2011. (THE FREEMAN)
