CEDC, CUSW ink deal for Mananga forest restoration project

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Energy Development Corporation and Toledo Power Company support the call for a sustainable and balanced development of the community. As responsible power generators, Cebu Energy and Toledo Power are committed to produce reliable electricity for Cebu’s economic progress, while guided by its commitment to protect and conserve the environment.

With the target of achieving a balanced economic and environmental development, Cebu Energy and Toledo Power founded the KABILIN Program – the two power generators’ environmental and livelihood development program, encompassing its legacy for the communities.

After the successful launching of the Malubog Watershed Conservation Project last August 9, 2010 (KABILIN’s first major project), Cebu Energy and Toledo Power are now expanding its reach in environmental preservation by signing another project for forest restoration – the Mananga Forest Restoration Project, in partnership with Cebu Uniting for Sustainable Water Foundation Inc. (CUSW).

On November 13, 2010, Cebu Energy and Toledo Power signed an official agreement with CUSW to restore 500 hectares of forestland in Mananga Watershed at the Central Cebu Protected Landscape.

This Mananga Forest Restoration Project speaks yet again of Cebu Energy and Toledo Power’s responsible corporate citizenship by ensuring preservation of the environment while operating its clean coal-fired power plants in Toledo City, Cebu. (THE FREEMAN)
