Accenture opens second facility in Cebu

MANILA, Philippines - Global technology and outsourcing firm Accenture is opening its second facility in Cebu signifying its confidence of high-value human resource in the province.

Accenture formally launched yesterday in Manila its three new facilities, which include the second Cebu facility located at CyberGate IT in Fuente Osmeña, and the other two located in Eastwood (Libis Quezon City) and McKinley Hill (Taguig City).

This new development makes the Philippines the 3rd largest country in the world to host the most number of facilities and human resource pool of Accenture's presence in 120 countries.

The opening of the three facilities yesterday, which was graced by Vice President Jejomar Binay, marked the culminating event of Accenture Philippines' 25th year anniversary in the Philippines.

Accenture chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) William D. Green said the Philippines has a significant edge in terms of expansion opportunity because of the good communication, innovative and high-motivated talents in the Philippines.

Accenture now has a total of 13 facilities in the Philippines. Green said by the end of its fiscal year (August 2011), the Philippine operation targets to employ a total of 25 thousand.

"We have dramatic advantage in this country. As our third largest geography, after India and the United States, the Philippines is a strategic part of Accenture's global operation," said Green.

Although, the company is also providing service in data and voice like the call center, the company's core business is into providing services of wide range technology application, offering a almost a total outsourcing products to its clients

President Benigno Aquino III's speech, which was delivered by Binay, the President underscored the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) huge contribution to the Philippine economy and Accenture being one of the biggest outsourcing firms in the country, has contributed largely to the US$7.3 billion revenue generated by the industry in 2009.

The Cebu facility on the other hand will be operational by December of this year, Accenture Philippines country director Lito Tayag said the number of seats is not yet being disclosed.

"Cebu is part of the strategic growth for the Philippines [operations]. It is a prime location of talent for BPO and technology business," Tayag said.

Accenture opened its Cebu Global Delivery Center Network for Technology in 2007, and also it opened its BPO arm or call center operations two years ago.

Accenture started its Philippine operations in 1985 as an offshore application development center supporting the business internally.

Today, Accenture is one of the largest IT and BPO companies in the Philippines, offering diverse array of technology services, including systems integration, application development and management, and infrastructure outsourcing, as well as voice (contact center) and data BPO services, including finance and accounting, health administration, human resources, insurance processing and custom BPO.

The company generated net revenues of US21.6 billion for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2010, with a total of 204 thousand people service clients in more than 120 countries.
