Globe Telecom to launch more iPhone applications

CEBU, Philippines – Globe Telecom, noting a growing demand for sophisticated and top-notch value-added services, recently announced that it is preparing to launch more iPhone applications in the next few months.

In a statement furnished to The Freeman yesterday, Globe said that it is now developing more iPhone applications that will be launched soon to deliver better customer service experience to its subscribers.

Moreover, the Ayala-controlled mobile giant bared its sustained leadership in the postpaid mobile segment, which is attributed to its successful partnership with Apple.

Globe introduced its iPhone4 product last month, and it reported a good performance turn-out which contributed to the sustained leadership of the company in terms of the number of postpaid subscribers in the Philippines.

According to Peter Bithos, Globe's consumer business adviser, the subscribers snapped up the company's available supply of the iPhone 4, prompting Globe to expedite re-orders of the latest handset from Apple to keep up with the demand.

"Globe Telecom's latest handset offer has also brought about a surge of new postpaid line applications," he added.

He said the company experienced a "sold-out" phenomenon for its first batch of order for the iPhone 4 and the demand is constantly increasing.

"There are lots of excited iPhone fans who have been waiting with bated breath for the best Globe plan that will get them their iPhone4," he said adding that bringing out the iPhone4 on Globe roster of customizable posted plans will enable its subscribers to make maximum device's features.

Globe has been the official partner of Apple in the Philippines since 2008, with the introduction of the first iPhone in the local market.

The Philippines is one of more than 13 countries launching the iPhone4 in September this year, including China, Thailand, Malaysia and Russia.

The iPhone4 16GB version comes free starting at Plan 3,799, with the iPhone4 32GB version is bundled for free starting with Plan 5000.

The company's My Fully Loaded Plans for the iPhone4 are all-consumable and also comes with extra perks such as free calls and SMS, mobile surfing or a consumable amount for international roaming. Both iPhone4 versions are also available for all My Fully Loaded Plans, with a corresponding cash-out depending on the plan offer.

The iPhone 4 features Face Time, a video calling service between iPhone 4 users using a WiFi connection. It's pixel count is also four times more than the previous version of the phone courtesy of its new Retina display, the highest resolution display every built into a phone, resulting in super crisp text, images, and video.
