Bad roads

There is one provincial road that is used by so many people and leading to a popular tourist destination that badly needs repair.

We are referring to the Pakigne-Tubod Road in the town of Minglanilla. The portion that needs immediate repair is a stretch of about 200 meters that starts off with a portion that is often flooded in sitio Tingkoro, barangay Pakigne.

The road is good after the portion that is flooded, but is again very bad after going downhill. The stretch of very bad road is probably less than a hundred meters long, but this place has been neglected.

There is a resort a couple of hundred meters more from the place that needs to be repaired. This report is a popular destination of local tourists, particularly families wanting to unwind some place that is not very expensive.

Further ahead heading to barangay Cuanos, a mountain barangay, the road is also very bad and nothing seems to have been done about it.

The place is a great place to bike, but the bad roads that have been worsened by the rain are just a turn off.

Maybe something can be done about this place after the barangay elections as a ban on projects is now in place.

This can also probably give the people living in the area and idea on who to vote for come October 25.

A motorist has sent email to media outfits asking the Department of Public Works and Highways to repair the road in Looc, Lapu-Lapu City leading to the town of Cordova.

The motorist calls the area as "worst than a broken road."

The email sender said that this is a very stretch being the link between Lapu-Lapu and Cordova, which means that it should never be neglected by government.

The email sender added that the length of the road that badly needs repair is only about 30 to 40 meters.

Who should take charge of this? Maybe Provincial Board Member Arleigh Sitoy, who hails from Cordova, can help solve this immediate problem ahead of his other proposed legislation in the Provincial Board.

The sender of the email seemed very worried about the situation, how come we don't hear a hoot from the city and town officials of the areas involved?

The reader would not have sent the email to media if he or she sees the local officials doing something about it.
