BitDefender sets test run for new security software

- Jessica B. Natad -

CEBU, Philippines -  BitDefender, the creator of one of the industry’s fast and effective lines of internationally-certified security software will soon allow the public to test its upcoming security software for 2011.

In a statement, BitDefender is looking forward to the beta campaign of its new product, which will give an opportunity for the market to test and get a preview of BitDefender’s upcoming releases.

For home and small-office PC users, BitDefender provides comprehensive protection against viruses, spyware, hackers, and other common electronic threats that can lead to identity theft, loss of personal data and slow system performance.

BitDefender products utilize multiple proactive technologies to identify even brand new threats and attacks, not just a list of pre-existing viruses.

Since its inception in 2001, BitDefender has continued to set new standards in proactive threat prevention. Every day, BitDefender protects tens of millions of home and corporate users across the globe. BitDefender solutions are distributed by a global network of value-added distribution and reseller partners in more than 100 countries worldwide.

The company has echoed the warning of Mozilla, developer of Firefox web browser, to online users on a new online scam known as “tap napping.” The scam targets internet users who open lots of tabs on their browsers at the same time.

Creators of the “tap napping” replace an inactive browser tab with a fake page set up specifically to obtain ones personal data, “without the user realizing it has happened.”

“Imagine you open the login page for your online bank account, but then you open a new tab to visit another website for a few minutes, leaving the first tab unattended. When you return to your bank’s site the login page looks exactly how you left it. What you haven’t realized is that a fake page has taken its place, so when you type in your username and password, you have inadvertently given the fraudster easy access to your account.”
