AllGen to further push Cebu as center for nursing education

- Ehda Dagooc -

CEBU, Philippines - The entry of AllGen NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) review provider in Cebu will continue to push the province’s positioning as the center of nursing education in the Southern Philippines.

With the pressing issue on declining quality of nursing graduates from some colleges and universities in the Philippines, the active efforts of AllGen Cebu to provide top-notch international nurses from the Philippines, will make Cebu a constant provider of nurses.

Bella Portia Ross, AllGen chief executive officer (CEO) said that with several outstanding universities and colleges offering nursing courses in Cebu, this should be supported by equally good review center that will usher the graduates to land promising jobs abroad, especially in the United States.

“Cebu is the center of trade and industry in the Southern part of the Philippines. The province has the highest standards in commerce and education. It also offers affordable university and produces quality graduates,” Ross said.

She said the company can adequately and inexpensively house the nursing students across the Southern Philippine region, as its facility located in PDI Condominium in Banilad area is within a secured environment, surrounded with food and shopping outlets.

At present, AllGen is offering its 17-day review program dubbed as “The Intelligent Review”, which is designed for the hectic schedule of a modern-day nurse without losing the essentials that she/he needs to consider for the US nursing practice.

“Our review program was developed by a pool of top academic researchers from the best Philippine universities and then evaluated and approved by a Dean and Faculty from the University of Missouri, one of American’s most prestigious University Nursing programs,” Ross said.

Ross underscored that review centers are vital for aspirant nurses. “We need to challenge and inspire them. The students need to be offered the right curriculum, which was developed and properly reviewed with the highest standard.”

She said the firm is committed to constantly find ways to improve the students’ ability to pass the NCLEX, as well the IELTS testing.

Significantly, she said the center also needs to be on top of the current immigration requirements for employment abroad.

Last year, the American Hospital Association said more than 5,000 community hospitals nationwide have a need for 116,000 registered nurses. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics also projected a shortage of more than one million registered nurses by 2010.

The demand for Filipino nurses abroad, especially in the United States (US), is expected to surge in the coming years with US President Barack Obama’s signing into law the US ’ health reform bill.

According to Ross, AllGen will continue to make efforts to improve our award winning NCLEX review program that will maintain Cebu as a center for nursing licensure review and other overseas employment requirements such as IELTS or the International English Language Testing System.

The continuing demand for Filipino nurses abroad, specifically in the United States, will build up the need for nursing students and newly graduates to seriously study and review to get even a passing rate for any international licensure requirement such as NCLEX.
