CEBU, Philippines - The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) market in Cebu may seem saturated, but growth is still on the rise as Cebuano companies, even the small and medium enterprises, have started to embrace ICT in their businesses.
According to Melchor Alejandro, Business Unit Head-VisMin group of Trends and Technologies Inc. (TTI) the presence of “too many” competitors in the industry, which resulted in the liberalization of the telecommunication industry, is one of the challenges of each industry player.
“Before, there were only very few players. Now, even small ICT solutions provider can serve the market. In fact, now, TTI is banking on its 13 years of experience to attract the market,” he said.
TTI is a solutions provider and systems integrator for ICT in the country. It started operating in 1992 in Manila as a provider of basic data connectivity and cabling product such as modem and multiplexer. The Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) was the only telecom company serving the country. The company branched out to Cebu in 1997 and has evolved into a systems integrator for markets such as business process outsourcing, financial services, manufacturing, telecommunications services providers, government, health care, hospitality and education sectors.
