Traumatic experience of a lady driver

MOTORIST’S CORNER - Nimrod NL Quiones -

A reader sent us a text message yesterday relating what she called a very traumatic incident near the Mambaling exit of the South Road Properties (SRP).

The reader was on board her car and was on her way home around 9:30 p.m. when about ten men surrounded her vehicle and pounded on the windshield.

She said that the men all looked drunk and it was a good thing she had locked her doors.

The reader was lucky to get out of the place unhurt and we hope that she can get over the trauma that she suffered.

There is supposed to be a law against public drunkenness and it seems that the officials of barangay Mambaling allowed such incidents to happen.

There is also supposed to be a police station near that area.

Since were in the subject of drinking, we wonder if the police and barangay officials are turning a blind eye when we spotted a big group of people near corner Imus Ave. and Sikatuna having drinks on the road where they put their chairs facing a videoke machine.

We know what happens when people drink alcohol and we know that many people have been hurt because of such activities.

Prevention is better than cure, but it seems that the group wasn’t stopped from doing so.

This happened very near that establishment that was closed by Mayor Tom Osmeña and the barangay gymnasium.

The lane dividers in Lawaan, Talisay City are becoming fewer each week and we hope that those who have ran smack into them weren’t hurt so badly.

We wonder what the brilliant guys taking charge of Talisay City traffic have in mind.

No less than barangay captain Mady Juezan of Pakigne, Minglanilla assured us yesterday afternoon that he would do something about the congestion in that narrow corner leading to Upper Pakigne and three other barangays, which is a traffic chokepoint.

The reason for the congestion in the corner are the many motorcycle for hire or habal-habal that are indiscriminately parked by drivers, who we heard don’t even have licenses.

What the place needs is just the strong will of the leaders to remove these traffic and safety hazards parked right at the corner making it difficult for many drivers to maneuver.

We hope that the officials of barangay Linao will also do something about the dreaded Eskina Tungkil also of the same town.
