New developments eyed for Mandaue business month

-

CEBU, Philippines - With another year coming ahead, the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) is already looking forward to the yearly Mandaue Business Month (MBM).

During a gathering of all MCCI members, MBM Chairman for 2009 Phillip Tan talked of the success of this year’s MBM and that they are looking forward to next year’s celebration where new developments would be made.

MCCI staged a grand MBM August this year in partnership with Mandaue City and the province of Cebu which celebrated its 440th founding anniversary.

Aside from reporting on the MBM 2009, Tan also introduced Stanley Go as the MBM chairman for the upcoming year who said that they are now looking in more activities and some changes for the celebration.

Among the developments the group is looking into is extending the MBM to more than a month so that they could have more activities that would focus on different industries such as SMEs and tourism.

Go said that they would have the post evaluation of the MBM 2009 in the end of January and would be followed by the series of discussions for the 2010 event.

He said that there were already a lot of activities this year and that they would probably be choosing some of these to implement again next year, and add more activities that will promote their green initiatives.

Go also added that there were already a lot of activities solely for the SME’s which they would like to push forward in line with the chamber’s goal to give back to the industry which plays a vital role in the economy.

He said they will be continuing with the seminars and the mentoring programs next year in partnership with companies that are also aiming to help out the SME sector.

Go said that their advocacies as well on the youth would be continued as they see the importance of giving attention to this market.

According to Go, the growing support of the public on healthy living by going for organic products should also be maximized by going in to these activities which would not only benefit the consumers but also   the farmers who are into organic farming.—AJ dela Torre
