Entrepreneurial spirit evident in livelihood training seminar

CEBU, Philippines - Entrepreneurial spirit is indeed an innate potential of most Cebuanos as proven by the huge turnout of participants in the two-day livelihood skills training seminar organized by the Golden Treasure Skills Development Program.

Golden Treasure Skills Development Program president Emily Diaz said that they were pleased with the outcome of their first seminar in Cebu and would make sure to organize another one in order to share their expertise to more people.

Diaz said that they chose to bring their seminars to Cebu because since its one of the biggest cities, the potential of business growth is also very strong in the city.

In fact, Diaz said that as far as she has noticed business whether big or small has continued to bloom in the city despite the economic situation.

Golden Treasure Skills Development Program gives different kinds of seminars as they go around the country. Aside from the numerous seminars in Manila for more than eight years already, they have already conducted seminars in Baguio , Pampanga and Tarlac among others.

Diaz said that they want to share to more people how to start up businesses that would not be a hassle to them, especially for those that already has jobs or for those that would want to start up their own businesses in their own homes with only little capital.

Hazel Bellita, one of the participants, said that she chose to join the seminar for product knowledge and for her to be educated on other businesses that she could venture into. She said that for a registration fee of 1,800, the seminar was worth it and it taught them a lot about the specified topics.

Bellita said that she also sees it as a good opportunity for means of income if chooses to resign in the near future. But she said that since she knows already how to make products such as soaps, she would use it to give for Christmas presents and other occasions which would mean a personalized touch for her gifts.

Another participant, Odelon Cabal, said that he sees the taught skills to be a good start for a small business and recommends the seminars for the other people who would want to have extra means of income.  

Golden Treasure Skills Development Program president Diaz said that aside from the skills, it is also important for the participants to know the values to excel in business.

She said that she always shares her personal experience to the participants and how being industrious and courageous would help them stand out especially with the competition in the market.— AJ de la Torre
