Cereal, fertilizer prices in Cebu remain stable

Despite the series of oil price rollbacks, rice prices have remained steady in both wholesale and retail trading, based on the weekly price monitoring of the Provincial Agricultural Statistics Office (PASO) of the Department of Agriculture.

In a price monitoring survey furnished to The Freeman, which covered the days from November 19 to November 25, wholesale prices of cereals and fertilizers generally remained steady.

Premium rice was traded at P32.40 per kilo to as high as P39.20 per kilo with a prevailing price of P34 which remained steady from last week’s price.

 There was no trading for fancy rice but well-milled rice (WMR) formerly called special rice was traded at P28. 80 per kilo to as high as the prevailing price of P32 per kilo, still the same as the previous week.

Regular milled rice (RMR) formerly known as ordinary rice was priced at P24. 60 to as high as P28.60 per kilo with a prevailing price of P28, which remained steady from the previous week’s price.

For white corn grain, farm prices remained steady at P15. 23 per kilo to as high as P16 whereas wholesale was at P23 to as high as P25. 75 per kilo. The prevailing price at P25 slightly decreased from last week’s P25. 50.

For retail prices, there was still no trading for fancy rice but premium rice was sold at P36 per kilo to as high as P43. The prevailing price was at P38 per kilo, which lightly increased from the previous week’s P37 per kilo.

For well-milled rice (WMR), a kilo was traded from P31.50 to as high as P35.50 per kilo and the prevailing price was at P34 per kilo which slightly increased from the previous week’s P33 per kilo.

Regular milled rice (RMR) on the other hand was traded from P25 to as high as P31 per kilo and the prevailing price was at P30 per kilo which remained steady from the previous week.

There was no trading for corngrains in the retail level but yellow corngrits were priced at P21 per kilo while white corngrits was at P24.50 to as high as P28 and a prevailing price of P27 which is the same from previous week.

As for fertilizers, dealers prices for urea per 50 kilograms was traded from P1, 500 to as high as P1, 600 with a prevailing price of P1, 500 which slightly decreased from the previous week’s P1, 583. 33.

Ammosul (21-0-0) fertilizer was traded from P700 to as high as the prevailing price of P800, which remained steady from last week.

Meanwhile, Ammophos (10-20-0) fertilizer was traded from its prevailing price of P1, 650 to as high as P1, 680, which decreased from the previous week’s P1, 700.

The complete fertilizer (14-14-14) was traded from P1, 650 to as high as P1, 780 with a prevailing price of P1, 720, which decreased from last week’s P1, 750 per 50 kilograms.

As a result of softening fuel rates in the world market, the domestic prices of petrochemical fertilizers have been reported to have fallen by as much as 20 percent this month.— Rhia de Pablo
