Fuel saving

MOTORIST’S CORNER - Nimrod NL Quiñones -

Whew!  Can’t help but say that when we saw the prices of diesel near the P60 level last weekend, but got a little reprieve when government asked the oil companies to roll back the price by P1.50, but then we’ll have another round of increases this weekend.

With fuel prices so high, we’d like to conserve fuel and one way for us to do that is when there is a smooth flow of traffic.

As we have written the past several weeks, government has to do something about traffic to help us cope with the rising fuel cost.

We received this email from one of our readers last week.

Good day Nim.  Here I am again looking forward that you can spare a little space in your Motorist’s Corner for just a simple concern.  You see as I have told you before, traversing the Banilad-Talamban Road in the morning is like walking to Calvary Hill.  Everyday we have to contend with the traffic situation because until now nothing has been happening to the construction of the fly-over except people from DPWH or the contractor “narrowing” the road.

Just a few questions I would like to ask/share to those responsible in coming up with the project... How come you implemented the construction when in fact the lot owners have not agreed yet with the price of their lots affected by the fly-over which is to be paid by the government?

I understand that a thorough study of a project must be discussed first before getting it started.  Didn’t the people involved especially the project engineers have the subject OPERATIONS RESEARCH in their college days?

Another thing also, just this morning on our way to our respective offices, we passed by P Remedio Street, an access on towards AS Fortuna going to Foodland.  The street is in a very sorry state I should say, but passable.  When we reach the junction where PUJs & Talamban-bound vehicles, along with other vehicles bound for the city merge, there was no CITOM personnel around to man the traffic lanes.  Asa naman pod ang CITOM?  The stretch from Foodland up to Chevrolet in Banilad had only 3 CITOM personnel.  Asa man ang uban?  I tell you, pagka tapulan jud aning mga tawhana.

Thanks Nim & best regards.

Here’s another email from Jesson Morata.

Sir Nimrod,

The high cost of gasoline prices are making motorists at the edge of their seats, so to speak. Recently, a palm oil-based motor fuel additive was recently introduced. Bernilo Pacheco, inventor and president of the additive now being manufactured by his Formula 2020 International was in the limelight lately. I commend Mr. Pacheco for such ingenuous invention.  At least, for the meantime, this invention would be a “temporary” relief for weary motorists who are so much battered with the weekly rounds of gas increases.  I am though, skeptic of the fuel additive. If I were to base the testimonies of the people who were able to use the additive, it’s impressive. But, I have to see and use it first before I erase that skepticism. I would probably buy it not because it is endorsed by a former basketball star, but rather out of dire need to save fuel.

Jesson, we still have to check this product out although we’ve heard much about it.  Anything that can help us save fuel is always welcome.
