Epson sees potential in Cebu’s market size, business ambiance

Optimistic with the growing awareness of the market for IT-related products these days, Japanese brand Epson is determined to dominate emerging markets such as Cebu.

“There are plenty of opportunities for Cebu and Epson eyes the area as a potential market aside from Manila and Davao because of its market size and positive business environment,” said Epson Philippines Corporation Head for Pre Sales Group Christer Joseph T. Destajo in an interview.

Epson is a worldwide brand in digital image innovations as it focuses on meeting clients' demand using technological breakthroughs on its products.

Its products are composed of four major groups which include: imaging on paper (printers and other imaging products), imaging on screen (office & home multimedia projectors, and other visual imaging equipments), imaging on support devices (displays, semiconductors, optical devices, quarts devices, mechatronics), and imaging on glass (mobile displays).

Destajo said that since Epson established presence in the Philippines last 1998; they managed to grow rapidly into becoming a billion peso company in a span of a few years due to its client-oriented approach on its business management.

He said that currently, they have been servicing a wide client-base from the corporate sector including big companies such as Jollibee Foods Incorporated, San Miguel, McDonalds’, UCPB, Banco de Oro as well as top notch schools such as Ateneo de Manila and the De La Salle University and public offices such as the National Statistic Office and the Bureau of Internal Revenue.

“We have since been providing complete printing solutions to our client-base from dot matrix to laser down to inkjet and our core competency lies in patented technologies that we have innovated,” said Destajo.

Aside from printers, Epson is also considered as one of the world's largest manufacturers of scanners, desktop computers, business, multimedia and home theatre projectors, large home theatre televisions, robots and industrial automation equipment, point of sale docket printers and cash registers, laptops, integrated circuits, LCD components and other associated electronic components.

Traditionally, the company has been manufacturing Seiko timepieces since its foundation and is one of three core companies of the Seiko Group. With numerous subsidiaries worldwide, Epson has been able to generate net sales in 2006 to 2007 which amounted to 1.416 trillion yen.
