Remember BLOWBAG and P

Since many would be hitting the road to head to their hometowns for the Holy Week, we encourage you to take extra care in preparing for that trip.

If you haven’t done so yet, bring your vehicle to a reputable service center if not the service center of your car dealer for a thorough check.

Remember BLOWBAG – Battery, Lights, Oil, Water, Brakes, Air, and Gas, before you leave your garage.

One very important thing that my family always does before we leave our place is to include P among the things we do before leaving.  That is praying for our safety and that of others on the road.

We received several emails from readers and one of them talked about observations on the flow of vehicles.

The reader asked to remain anonymous.  Here’s the email:

I have observed that when you are coming from Echavez Extension going to CIC (Colegio De La Inmaculada), one is not allowed to make right turn to Gen Maxilom when its RED signal. I believe the traffic coming from Gen. Maxilom is heavy, therefore right turn is not allowed when RED.

I live somewhere V. Rama Ave and everyday this is the routine that I take in going to the office.

From V. Rama Ave, coming from Guadalupe or Happy Valley, I take a left turn going to B. Rodriguez St. In my own observation the volume of vehicles using this route is heavy. However one must be extra careful when turning left to B. Rodriguez as the traffic coming from the opposite direction is also heavy. If you are coming from Calamba, upon reaching the intersection of B. Rodriguez, vehicles turning right may do so anytime. By doing so, vehicles are competing for a lane. Flow of vehicles from both direction is then hampered as they try to out-do each other.

Recommendation:

Can we put a restriction, those coming from Calamba must stop when its RED SIGNAL. Just like the restriction they have placed on the intersection of Echavez St. corner Gen Maxilom.

Secondly, can CITOM look into the vendors near the entrance of Vicente Sotto Hospital, these vendors are already occupying the street thus restricting the flow of vehicles or to prevent an accident.

The observations of our reader are correct and we’d really like to emphasize also on the vendors near the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center OPD entrance that block the flow of traffic.

Compounding the situation of course are the drivers of jeepneys and taxis that linger in the area to pick up passengers.

The CITOM has long neglected this area and we wonder why.
