CCCI opens nominations for “Entrepreneur of the Year”
The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) is calling on successful entrepreneurs from diverse industries to participate in this year’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” award, one of the highlights of the Cebu Business Month (CBM 2008) celebration.
The Chamber Awards committee is now on the search for exemplary businessmen, who provides great example in entrepreneurship with success stories that would serve as inspiration to next generation entrepreneurs.
The award recognizes vital contributions of leaders and catalysts of change that built sustained world-class businesses in
Potential nominees should serve as testaments of their visions and leadership, generated employment, created innovative products and industries, enriched individual’s lives, and contributed to the vibrancy of economies.
CCCI announced that eligible nominee must be the owner or manager of a private or public company that has been in operation for at least three years, responsible for the recent performance of the company or organization and must be an active member of top management in the company or organization.
Other awards to be accorded by the Chamber Awards committee also are; Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Emerging Entrepreneur, Environmentally Responsibility Entrepreneur, Small Business Entrepreneur, Socially Responsible Entrepreneur, and Countryside Entrepreneur.
General criteria for entrepreneur nominees are: demonstrates leadership and perseverance in the face of adversity; fosters teamwork and builds loyalty among personnel; demonstrates innovativeness in their product and/or service; lives out integrity in the arena of business competition; and, practices corporate social responsibility. The nominees’ track record based on the company’s present financial performance will also be considered.
This year CCCI is celebrating its 95th Founding Anniversary. Special citations will also be awarded to various organizations that have helped the chamber become what it is today. The Grand Chamber Awards Committee is currently accepting nominations for these citations.
Spearheading this year’s Grand Chamber Awards are: Ms. Melanie Ng as Chairman. Atty. Anastacio Muntuerto, Jr., Mr. Hernan Streegan, Jose Ng, Dr. Efren Valiente,. Geronimo Sta. Ana, and. Carlos Co, shall serve as judges.
Last year, the Grand Chamber Award honored, pawnshop giant operator Michel Jones Lhuillier of Michel J. Lhuillier Pawnshops Inc., as the Entrepreneur of the Year for 2007.
Other Cebuano entrepreneurs who were given recognitions in their success in business included; fashion accessory designer Gil “Butch” Carungay of Avatar Accessories Inc.,
