San Remigio Beach Club develops resort amenities

-

Aiming to make San Remigio as another popular Philippine destination with its pristine beaches, a resort in this northwest coast of Cebu has been starting positive development with their property to drive the vision into reality.

In an interview with the young general manager of San Remigio Beach Club Sports and Leisure Resort Mark Anthony Ynoc, he said that with their five years of operation their business could still be classified as a “baby” in Cebu’s emerging resort industry.  However, he pointed out that with the new developments that they have been recently undergoing, great and positive things are foreseen.

“We visualize creating a name for San Remigio as we want to make it into another tourism destination not only for the benefit of San Remigio Beach Club but for the municipality as a whole that will boost its local economy,” Ynoc stressed.

San Remigio is a third class municipality in the northern part of the province with a population of around 44, 000 people in about 9,300 households.

As other islands and tourism destinations in the province are known for a lot of things they offer like their diving spots, delicacies, festivals and among others, San Remigio on the other hand boasts of having the longest shoreline in Cebu as the beaches there are described to be ‘naturally extraordinaire.’

“If we can work as one, we can create a brand for San Remigio that will make it a lot easier to attract foreign and domestic tourists alike,” Ynoc added.

So far, Ynoc is working with the local government and the provincial government sector to come up with developmental and tourism plans for San Remigio that will aide in their marketing efforts.

Last year, Ynoc joined the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry in their Business Trade Mission to California where he was able to showcase San Remigio to prospective clients abroad. He discussed that feedback of the effort was positive as they have generated several reservations for the beach club.

San Remigio Beach Club is an eight hectare property located in Baybay Tambongon in San Remigio operated by Ynoc’s family in 2002. Recently, the resort has undertaken development and expansion with the addition of its Café Gloria that can accommodate about 250 guests in one setting and its Bahia Vista and party area by the beach called as their Skipper’s Lounge.

With just 70% of the whole property developed, the beach club is still undergoing a three year-term expansion plan that will end next year. Currently Sir Anthony Spa and Sauna is still under construction and other developments will soon rise such as their Honey Moon Suites and Retirement Village catered for “balikbayans” and foreign retirees which are aimed to bring in more guests to the beach club.

“This year we did well in terms of sales and guest arrivals but we are still optimistic to grow even more this year as we continue to expand and develop the property. I’m absolutely up for striving excellence so its better to do it slowly but the best way possible” Ynoc underscored.

Also excited with the construction of the trans-axial highway, Ynoc is also optimistic that with tourism infrastructure support initiated by the government sector, players in the resort industry like themselves will continue to harness more growth this year and in years to come.

“Distance is the factor that hinders tourists from coming in to San Remigio and infrastructure development will definitely be better for our businesses,” stressed Ynoc. —  Rhia de Pablo
