RP’s tallest hotel nears completion

- Rhia de Pablo -

To signal the successful completion of the exterior frame of the 38-story Crown Regency Hotel and Towers, considered as the country’s tallest hotel building, a topping off ceremony was held recently right at its highest structural point.

Crown Regency Hotel and Towers is only one of the three high-profile and multi-million dollar project of Fuente Triangle Realty Development Corporation (FTRDC), a subsidiary of J. King & Sons Company, Inc which created the Crown Regency Hotel Group.

Their other projects are the Club Ultima, the lifestyle membership club at the Fuente Tower 2 and the Ultima Residences Fuente condominium with loft project at the Tower 3 located at the Fuente Triangle, Osmeña Boulevard.

CEO and Founder Richard King said in an interview that with the near completion of the entire project he hoped to have already proven skeptics that discouraged him that indeed his vision is achievable.

“Other people even my family thought at first that I couldn’t possibly do this, but I believed that by just focusing on my vision and goal and with sheer determination I would achieve something big as this,” he said.

King discussed that his experiences in the construction industry have inspired him to dream of creating a landmark that will be widely known not only here in Cebu but the whole Philippines as well as in Asia and in the whole world.

He said that the conclusion of the almost three years of construction has actually just  started as the whole structure is still yet to become Cebu’s largest and the country’s tallest hotel and will assume its rightful place as a powerhouse business and leisure destination in the South.

The four-star hotel will cater to both business and leisure guests offering 360 modern air-conditioned rooms including six presidential suites. At the moment, 120 guestrooms are already in operation including the 54 rooms at the Club Ultima.

As a trendsetter himself, King disclosed that Crown Regency Hotel will also introduce the industry-first which they called “Sky Experience.”

It will have an Observatory and a sky bar on the 38th floor and will host adventure sky rides such as “The Edge” and “The Insanity Orbiter Ride” on the topmost level. There will also be a sky walk and bar on the 37th level which will be opened first after the whole structure is 100% completed.  There will also be an exclusive gentlemen’s Bar Lounge on the 36th floor and a fine dining restaurant offering a stunning view of the whole city at the 35th floor.

King said that the company has spent around five million dollars for the sky rides that they have obtained from the Stratosphere in Las Vegas.

He also revealed that a 2 million dollar investment will also be allocated for the city’s first medical diagnostic center with state-of-the-art facilities to give its clients a hotel atmosphere in their daily treatments.

“We will be putting up these structures in a stages scheme, one-at-a-time, similar to the Disneyland in Hong Kong. So, you can imagine the tourists, foreign and domestic alike, to be coming over Cebu just to witness these kinds of activities. As a hotel business, this project will contribute greatly to the city’s tourism development,” he stressed.

The completion of the entire Crown Regency Hotel and Towers structure will take another six months and it will be formally opened for business in January 2008.
