PLDT myDSL launches quick install kit in Cebu

Launching a product catered mostly for the yuppies or the young professional segment of the market, PLDT myDSL recently kicked-off a first-of-its-kind car drifting exhibition in SM City Cebu’s car park.

PLDT myDSL’s QKit (quick install kit) is PLDT’s newest innovation that offers the fastest DSL installation service according to PLDT’s Product Assistance Manager for Retail Data Acquisition John Henri C. Yanez in an interview.

The quick install kit can be purchased in PLDT service centers and be easily installed at home by the user and this kit comes with various DSL plans depending upon the customer’s choice.

Yanez discussed that the car drifting exhibition which flew in the lateral drift championship team, the pioneers of drifting in the country was a culminating event for their nationwide marketing campaign of myDSL Qkit service which they have started offering since last March.

“This is the first time that we have really pushed something big as this. We are finally kicking off this activity for the first time here in Cebuanos as we have noticed that Cebu is one of our biggest markets in the country,” said Yanez.

In terms of share volume, Cebu comprises the biggest and highest volume across the PLDT network. Yanez pointed out, “Malakas kasi mag-internet and mga Cebuanos and mostly the younger ones.”

Yanez also stressed that against their counterpart, PLDT penetrated about 60% of the nationwide broadband market. This figure is shared together with their sister company’s broadband services like Smart Bro.

“We are very optimistic of the success of our quick install kit service as it presents a new channel of service for myDSL connection and its application is very simple. It does not only hasten the delivery of PLDT services to our subscribers but also makes broadband accessible to a large base of the market,” said Yanez.

He also added that similar quick install mechanism has been utilized by broadband network providers in countries like Europe and Japan. QKit as Yanez underscored is literally the first-of-its-kind fastest broadband connection service here in the country. He also said that PLDT is proud to introduce this service first here in Cebu.

DSL stands for “Digital Subscriber Line,” and this is a technology that allows users to have faster Internet connections while still using their regular phone lines or land lines.

This technology has rapidly grown in popularity worldwide since it is much easier to install than other types of fast broadband Internet connection like wireless. With DSL, there is no need to install new cables, or to setup satellite dishes or antennas. In addition to being easy to install, DSL also allows subscribers to use their phone for both voice calls and Internet surfing at the same time, which is superior to dial-up.
