Mediterranean bistro enters Cebu’s upbeat food market

-

Aiming to get a piece of Cebu’s booming economic pie, a new restaurant in town owned by Manila-based entrepreneurs called Jelde Kitchenette Corporation is all set to conquer Cebu’s food market with Mediterranean dishes.

Aquavit Mediterranean Bistro had its soft opening last month and at this early proprietor Roger Go is determined to spread the news that they are in town to serve Cebuanos nothing but the best of Mediterranean cuisine.

According to Go, there is a huge potential for the restaurant to hit big in Cebu as it specifically serves Mediterranean dishes from different countries across the Mediterranean sea like Greece, Italy, Egypt, Spain and the Middle East, which is not very much common in Cebu.

“Serving Mediterranean cuisine is the concept that will make us different from other restaurants in Cebu that are commonly serving Chinese, Japanese, Filipino or other Asian dishes,” said Go.

He also added that, “by just being different in terms of cuisine, and by making everything the best from providing quality service and superb ambiance, we can guarantee to make our customers really happy and satisfied with their dining experience.”

The bistro targets all segments of the market as Go emphasized that they do not want to discriminate any customer.

The bistro also strives to become known as an upscale dining place for fresh cuts serving dishes cooked in different ways putting a lot of herbs and spices which is a signature of Mediterranean cooking.

At the moment they are highlighting their so-called executive lunch which is priced from a net of P158 to P198 which is served with hot soup, scrumptious salad, a tasty dessert and a round of their aquavit iced tea.  The meal comes with different choices of main course like Fish Kebab, Chicken Kebab, Pirzola (lamb chops) Pollo (chicken), Pidakia (ribs), Chelo Kebab, and Beef Kebab.

“Our food is definitely delicious but absolutely affordable,” he said.

As a Manila-based entrepreneur, Go also emphasized the potential of Cebu as a booming city with a growing market.

Go stressed that, “a lot of Manila-based restaurant owners who started their businesses in Manila are slowly investing here and so we also went here in order not to miss out on the piece of cake because Cebu truly has a big potential since it’s the next big city after Manila.”

He also pointed out that, “the market here is growing since there already are a lot of transient travelers. Foreigners especially exchange students from the Middle East love Mediterranean cuisine so in a manner of time once the word gets around town that we are here hopefully business will be good for us.” —Rhia de Pablo
