Young entrepreneur brews Café Volere

Young, fresh and beyond-the-usual; are only a few adjectives that can best describe the newest coffee shop in town and the young entrepreneur behind it.

Serving more than just your usual plain and ordinary coffee, Café Volere offers a wide array of quality food from pizza, pasta, lasagna, macaroni and selected pastries truly inspired by the Italian character of good food and quality value.

“Volere” actually meant “like” in Italian. And just the same, the coffee shop literally is set to become a trendy hang-out which coffee-lover customers would come to like.

Owned and operated by 22-year old Kingsley Ko, a CIE Business Administration student; the café posts several advantages as it adheres to fresh ideas that only someone young and open to newer marketing trends and perspectives could appreciate.

Kingsley admits to enjoying the company of friends especially checking out the newest coffee shops in town and trying different coffee flavors and combinations. Hence, in his course requirement in CIE where they are expected to put up their own business, a coffee shop seemed the logical choice.

When he trained with his coffee machine, he learned that coffee making is not as easy as it looks.  “A barista has to be attentive to the right grind, the right frothing, and the right temperature. To add to the difficulty level, all this should be done within seconds.  While most culinary-challenged individuals like me would shun from further torture on the espresso machine, the intricacies of preparing the perfect cup made my interest grew stronger.  At that moment, I felt I made the right choice,” shared Kingsley.

The business being only one month and a half old, already have two branches located in the ground floor area on the North Road Plaza Bldg. along the National Highway in Mandaue City and the recently launched branch in Rustan’s Supermarket Ayala.

Spending over P1.2 million total investments for the business, Kingsley is optimistic that sooner the café will slowly grow and become quite known in the market.

“Being a new brand and located in a not so visible location, the sales only reach a break-even point. But I am confident that it will improve due to the fact that we have established many repeat customers and the sales have been showing an upward trend.”

Kingsley’s family is engaged in real estate business focusing on warehousing. But as of the moment, the young entrepreneur is enjoying the challenge of running his own business as he said that, “coming from a business-oriented family, it is a great challenge for me to always strive to make this business as successful as my parents.”

Café Volere offers hot and iced coffee drinks with prices that range from P55-P75 which includes flavors like: Americano, Cappuccino, Caffe Latte, Mochaccino and White Mochaccino. The café also offers blended drinks or  smoothies at P80 flavored  Strawberry, Green Tea, Cookies and Cream to name a few.
