An estimated P9 million worth of counterfeit computer softwares were seized by the intellectual property rights division of the National Bureau of Investigation in Manila.

NBI operatives from Manila and Cebu raided a furniture factory and a call center in Mandaue City the other day for alleged infringements of the intellectual property rights law.

Design Editions and Cannon Creek Asia Incorporated were subject of the search warrants issued by the branch 22 of the Regional Trial Court in Manila. The NBI operatives seized two units of laptops, 10 units of computer sets and eight Microsoft installers with unlicensed Microsoft and Adobe software from Design Editions.

Seventy units of computers with unlicensed softwares and four pieces of pirated Microsoft compact disk installers and another two pieces fake Adobe installers were seized from Cannon Creek.

The NBI operatives conducted one month surveillance operations against the subject establishments before a search warrant was issued by the court. The seized computers are temporarily kept in a bonded warehouse in Cebu waiting for the court’s order.

The operators of the establishments are expected to be charged for violation of the intellectual property code of the Philippines.
