Shell steps up market lead with fuel economy program

With the introduction of its Fuel Economy program, fuel distributor giant Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation expects to sustain its market leadership in the gas category market in the Philippines.
Currently, this fuel company dominates a 30 percent market share in the gas category in entire country, while it captured a higher market share performance in Cebu with 38 percent hold.
Shell's regional manager for Visayas Randy del Valle said with the stiff competition of fuel distribution in the Philippines, Shell is working hard to guard its leadership, especially with the introduction of its Fuel Economy program.
This unique program provides motorists using main-grade gasoline, unleaded and super premium, to attain savings in usage with the right way of maintaining vehicle engine, among other tips.
Shell has launched this program worldwide, in the onset of skyrocketing prices of fuel products, through the Shell's Guinness World Record achievement for fuel economy around the world.
It proves that combining good driving practices with the right fuel can make a big difference in driving further for less.
The Shell Fuel Economy Challenge tested fuel efficient/Fuel Stretch driving practices shared by Shell to help motorists cut costs, and also revealed new tips based on the diverse terrain covered by John and Helen Taylor over the course of their 78-day worldwide journey using the Fuel Economy program.
Through this program that is extensively developed by Shell research and development, the company provides top fuel efficient techniques that can help motorists around the world go further and cut costs.
In a press conference held recently, Eric Holthusen, fuel technology team manager-Asia Pacific for Shell Global Distribution, he said that the company is pushing motorists to use a little fuel as possible, and that educational know-how on the right way of using fuel together with the right maintenance of the engine would result to fuel expense savings.
"Fuel economy has been the in the top of mind of drivers around the world," Holthusen said explaining that this is the reason why the company has ventured into the development of Fuel Economy program.
The program will only apply to main-grade gasoline users, such as unleaded and premium gasoline, excluding the high value products, like Shell's V-Power, and others.
Holthusen added that one of the important tips that motorists should apply in order to save fuel usage is keeping the engine clean and reduce friction.
