Hotel Koresco marks first year anniversary

Cagayan de Oro City - Hotel Koresco will celebrate its first year anniversary on November 25, 2006. One of the highlights during the celebration is the Chairman's Cup Golf Tournament. More than one hundred Korean and Filipino golfers are expected to join.

A year ago, Hotel Koresco was inaugurated in response to the Department of Tourism's call to invest in new hotel and resort facilities to accommodate the influx of foreign visitors.

As a gesture of goodwill and gratitude to the people of Cagayan de Oro City, the local government and the business community, Chairman Suk Koo Ko of the Infinite Forest Group (IFG) - Koresco, has announced recently that his company is finalizing plans to put in more investments in the city.

"This development is an indication of our trust and confidence to the city government's support not only to the IFG-Koresco but to other foreign investors."

A major property developer in Korea, Chairman Ko has envisioned to bring Korea's investment through the retiree industry and real estate development. His mission is to instill innovative leisure-culture and environment friendly ventures.

The Department of Tourism has announced recently that the country expects more than 600,000 Korean tourist arrivals by year end. The DOT ranked Korea second only to the United States in tourist arrivals to the Philippines.

Tourism Secretary Joseph Durano was in Korea on November 5 to lead the DOT in selling the tourists destinations of the country through the "Philippine Hotels and Resorts Road Show. The sales mission ended on November 11.

Last year, 393,093 Korean tourists visited various parts of the country, which represented more than 16 percent of the market.

The Chairman's Cup hopes to bring together various leaders in tourism, construction and environment. The tournament is designed to enhance the continuing friendship between the Koreans and Filipinos.

Various prizes which are donated by sponsors and friends from Korea and the Philippines are at stake, notwithstanding the Hole-in-One prize of a Round Trip Ticket from Manila-Seoul-Manila. The awards night and anniversary celebration will be held at the poolside of Hotel Koresco at the Pueblo de Oro Golf Estate.
