Mozcom launches online payment portal for SMEs

- Ehda Dagooc -
Diversifying business tactics amid stiff competition, Mozcom recently introduced an online payment portal, allowing small and medium businesses to take full advantage of electronic-Commerce (eCommerce).

Mozcom has put altogether the major payment channels in one, to offer SMEs easier and cost efficient way of accepting online payments, without having to worry of fraud, and other e-Commerce concerns in the Philippines.

In a formal introduction to Cebu, Mozcom chief operating officer Robertson Chiang said Mozcom's PayEasy online payment system simplifies the online payment process by providing secure, unified interface to merchants.

He said this new Mozcom innovation is the most comprehensive online payment system in the Philippines today. It supports all major credit cards like Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, JCB, Diners Club International, Bancnet and Megalink ATM cards, PayPal, Globe G-Cash, Smart Money, UCPB my1Time, and Western Union.

According to Chiang, one of the reasons the eCommerce portal in the Philippines has not taken off because of the unresolved problems in the online payment system, especially the threat in fraud.

Now, that Mozcom has developed a product that protects the major concerns in online marketing or eCommerce, and the high cost of registering every payment channel, Chiang said even a home-based merchant can now take advantage of the worldwide market through selling online.

"This product is a great feature especially for exporters who can now use our facility to accept payments from foreign customers without hassle of opening their own Internet merchant account and putting up the technical infrastructure," Chiang said.

"They (merchants) just have their site hosted at Mozcom and we will take care of the rest while they focus on running their businesses. Whether they are selling US$5.00 or US$5,000 items, we have the payment solutions for them," Chiang added.

This portal to international marketing is very important for Cebu, Chiang said, as there are thick volume of exporters, and entrepreneurs whose products have huge potential to hit the international market.

Mozcom only requires a P10,000 one-time fee to set up the payment infrastructure of a merchant, and will charge six percent in every transaction.

To help local online merchants better serve their customers across Asia, PayEasy has developed a multilingual support in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. This will provide non-English speaking Asians with more confidence to transact using PayEasy.

Establishments that have enrolled in Mozcom's PayEasy portal include; Fliptunes, an online retailer for OPM music; myBookStore.ph, an online bookstore; and Virtual Blooms, an online flower shop.

More than just being the first ISP in the Philippines to offer domestic roaming, Mozcom was also the first to offer international roaming via iPass. The company maintains its leadership position in the independent ISP industry by being a constant innovator.

Mozcom is the only non-telco owned ISP in the country to have a multiple redundant E1 and fractional DS3 domestic backbone, and satellite downlink from Loral-Cyberstar.

Aside from diversifying into providing eCommerce payment solutions, the company has also entered into Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry, with the opening of its first Medical Transcription operation in Davao.
