The owner of the biggest spa facility in Cebu, Johnny Siao, is considering to invest on a Spa boutique hotel here.
Siao said the planned Spa Hotel will be different from hotels or resorts that have Spa facilities, as this hotel will be designed to provide an ambiance for an extensive and total relaxation in its rooms.
If this project will be realized, this will be the first Spa Boutique Hotel to be built in Cebu, which will specialize on Spa services or treatment for the customers, giving them room accommodation for a total relaxation.
Although most hotels and resorts now have Spa services in their respective properties, Siao said the Spa Hotel will provide a different service. It will only accommodate guests who seek total wellness escapade, and relaxation.
He said treatment can be done inside the room. The facility will be built in 38 or 68 room accommodation.
However, Siao refused to divulge details of the project, saying he still has to concentrate on his newly opened The Spa at Cebu, located in a 1.5 hectare lot, at the Banilad area, adjacent to the road heading to Maria Luisa Estate Park subdivision.
The Spa Boutique Hotel will also be situated within the 1.5 hectare property.
Siao's multi-million Spa facility called The Spa at Cebu, operated by Spa Banilad Corporation adds Cebu's showcase of world-class Spa facilities, joining huge players in Spa service, like Shangri La's Mactan Island Resort's Chi Village, Badian Spa, Plantation Bay's Mogambo Spring, and The Spa at Cebu Hilton Resort.
The Spa at Cebu is a 100-bed Spa facility located within the metropolis.
"This is so far the largest [in accommodation] Spa in Cebu City," said Siao.
"Massage will never go out of style," Siao said adding that the Spa business, as long as it is offered with high standard services, can be Cebu's strongest niche in attracting tourists.
He said investing into another facility that would bring up the Spa service prestige in Cebu is worth it.
According to Siao, although there are already over 200 Spa outlets in Metro Cebu, there is still a huge potential for the health and wellness sector here, as this has become the province's strength in attracting foreign as well as local visitors.
Siao had been in the Spa business for a long time. In fact, he said he is one of few people that introduced Spa service in Cebu.
He said Cebu's tourism potential should be taken advantaged of, and should not be overlooked, saying there is a lot of business opportunity in this sector.
