Local fuel saving device attracts int'l carmakers

- Ehda Dagooc -
Filipino invented vehicle fuel saving device - Khaos Super Turbo has gained interest from international car manufacturers like Ford and Toyota, to be used as value added feature for these companies' future car releases.

Khaos Super Turbo charger is a device that reduces harmful engine emission, cuts gasoline consumption up to 50 percent and increase engine power up to 30 percent.

This gadget, which is now selling like hotcake in overseas market is invented by jeepney driver Pablo Planas in Quezon City Manila.

Inventionhaus International Corporation, the company that operates the manufacturing plant and commercial distribution of Khaos is currently talking with these two car makers for a possible tie up, however, no formal and official deal is achieved yet, said the company's assistant vice president for Visayas and Mindanao Jerry Eusebio.

Because of the strong demand for this device here and abroad, Eusebio said Planas decided to set up a commercial plant in 2003 and was able to make 70,000 Khaos gadget, 70 percent of which were exported in 26 countries, including the United States.

With the non-stop increases of fuel price, Eusebio said the company has decided to aggressively introduce the gadget to the Philippine market in order to help the gasoline-run vehicle owners to save gas consumption from a minimum of 15 percent to 50 percent.

Khaos Super Turbo Charger was awarded as Most Outstanding Invention by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), among other awards.

Aside from the interests from Toyota, and Ford USA to make use of the gadget as value added to gasoline saving feature, Eusebio said the Taiwan government is also getting this product to save their gasoline expenditures.

In fact, few years back, Planas was invited by U.S. government to convince him to sell the right of his invention to them, but because he sees the huge potential of the product, especially for Filipinos, he turned down the offer.

Khaos Super Turbo Charger is a small gadget that will be put to the car's engine that will control the emission of air, thereby achieving the right mixture that will save fuel and at the same time eradicate pollution problem.

The correct mixture to achieve the best combustion in motor engines is 15 percent air and 1 percent gas (fuel). The correct mixture contributes to complete and perfect combustion in motor engines. Other mixtures such as lower air percentage are incorrect and can result to unburned gas (fuel), hence, emitting pollution.

In his letter to Shell Corporation, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) then secretary Michael Defensor dated October 20, 2004, he said that the existence of this gadget could be a great help in coping with the increasing price of fuel.

"In line with the increasing cost of fuel and growing threat brought about air pollution I am confident this device in the long-run will prove to be beneficial to both industry and society," Defensor said in his letter.

In Cebu, Khaos Super Turbo Charger is distributed by CFG car accessories and automotive shop which has outlets in Ayala Center Cebu, and Banilad. The gadget cost is pegged at P6,500 for the Philippine market.

Formal launching of the product in Cebu market is set this coming November 18, 2005.
