MANILA, Philippines - Sony Mobile Communications has announced that the Xperia arc S in the Philippines will come with NDrive, the renowned turn-by-turn GPS solution that turns the Xperia smartphone from Sony into an efficient and reliable navigation device.
The Xperia arc S with the NDrive app becomes the perfect travel companion for the summer vacation. Road trips will be easier to plot and plan for as the NDrive provides street maps, points of interest enhanced by Google Search and 3D landmarks.
It also allows users to calculate alternative routes, choose parts of the route that they want to avoid, lock a section of road that the user wants to avoid in the future, and recalculate the original route.
NDrive uses the latest Accumaps which are stored locally on the device, allowing users to navigate without the need of constant network connectivity and requires a one-time download only.
The app also provides Facebook and Foursquare integration; 2D and 3D map visualization; time, speed and distance controls; next maneuver, distance to the next maneuver, next street name and return to location guide.
NDrive’s graphics are clearly rendered on the Xperia arc S’ brilliant 4.2-inch Reality Display with Mobile Bravia Engine. With its 1.4 GHz processor, the Xperia arc S features a 25 percent faster camera start-up and media conversion, along with 20 percent faster webpage rendering compared to its predecessor Xperia arc.
The Xperia arc S, named the European Camera Phone 2011-2012 during the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) Awards, has an 8.1-megapixel camera with HD video capability and Sony’s renowned Exmor R for mobile image sensor that enhances still images and videos even in low light conditions.
It also features 3D sweep panorama, a Sony technology that lets images be captured in panorama and then viewed by connecting the phone to a 3D TV using the HDMI output.
The free NDrive Philippines app will be downloadable for Xperia arc S purchases made from March 23 to May 31.
