Dubbed "Beyond WAPPcceleration: Winning in the Wireless Revolution," the event is expected to draw the participation of chief executive officers, corporate planners, business analysts, marketing managers and IT professionals from all over the country.
They will discuss the strategic value of wireless technology and the new market forces being generated by the wireless revolution.
"Beyond WAPPcceleration" brings together for the first time technology strategist and best-selling author Peter Cohan and NTT DoCoMo managing director Takeshi Natsuno.
Cohan, whose management consulting firm helped global leaders in various industries evaluate and profit from new business opportunities created by changing technologies, will discuss the implications of wireless technology on work and everyday life.
Natsuno will give a guided tour of NTT DoCoMos "i-mode," the worlds most successful wireless strategy, and FOMA (Freedom of Mobile Multimedia Access), the worlds first third-generation wireless service.
"The take-up of wireless technology is undeniable. More businesses are looking at the long-term value of using wireless technologies to accelerate their competitive advantage in marketing, sales and business process efficiencies," said Arcy Canumay, general manager of IdeaFarm Inc. and interim president of PhilWAPP.
Presented by Globe Telecom and iAyala and sponsored by Nokia, Ericsson and IBM Phils. Inc., "Beyond WaPPcceleration" will tackle trends in wireless technologies for businesses, particularly in marketing, consumer banking, B2B, enterprise resource management and supply chain management.
Technology developers will get a preview of the latest in WAP, GPRS, SMS, Bluetooth and other wireless services.
Special sessions with key companies will also be conducted for wireless application developers who are interested in learning how to profit from the wireless business.
PhilWAPP is a non-profit organization of wireless application developers and entrepreneurs to encourage the growth of wireless technology in the Philippines.
Formed by pioneering Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) enthusiasts last year, PhilWAPP has since expanded its interests to include all wireless applications.
Aside from increasing awareness of wireless technology, PhilWAPP also provides training, facilities and seed capital to entrepreneurs and developers.
