Fire hits House storage facility

MANILA, Philippines — A fire broke out at a storage facility inside the House of Representatives at the Batasang Pambansa complex in Quezon City yesterday.

The fire damaged some property and equipment, but no injuries were reported.

The Office of the Secretary General said the fire struck a contractor’s storage facility.

Personnel from the House’s fire unit and the Bureau of Fire Protection immediately contained the blaze.

The Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms is investigating the cause of the fire.

“The House of Representatives remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and security within the Batasan complex,” the House leadership said in a statement.
