Huawei showcases new devices

Huawei Ascend G6 4G

MANILA, Philippines - As it seeks to become the leading mobile phone provider in the world, Huawei recently unveiled its latest models of 4G LTE-enabled devices that feature premium user experiences.

Huawei, the world’s second-largest telecom equipment provider, has experienced a significant growth in the Philippine market, accounting for two percent of the total market share in the local mobile consumer business.

During a roundtable interview, Huawei Philippines CEO Dai Zhihua revealed Huawei’s plans for the year, including focus on the mobile market. “We are aiming to be among the three leading consumer brands in the Philippines and increase our market share to 15 percent in three years… Globally, we make up 4.9 percent of the market share in the mobile market. So we develop fast in the consumer market. We have very strong telecommunication technology, which is our advantage.”

Huawei’s performance in the smartphone business has been the most upbeat, with the company aiming for a sharp increase in smartphone sales as it eyes on overtaking Apple as the world’s second largest seller.

During the interview, Dai and his team also showcased Huawei’s latest smartphone models, with more emphasis on the Ascend G6 4G and the MediaPad X1, which is the world’s slimmest seven-inch LTE Cat4-enabled all-in-one phablet.

Huawei’s new 4G LTE-enabled smartphone brings ease of use back to smartphone ownership and opens up a world of fun and colorful new ways to stay connected without boundaries. It sports an ultra-sleek design and fashionable high-end smartphone aesthetics.

The Ascend G6, which was first introduced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain last February, is also equipped with a 4.5-inch qHD display, five-megapixel front-facing camera and the Emotion UI 2.0, making it an ideal companion for those who want to share better.

Aside from its cutting-edge smartphones, Huawei also launched its latest phablets, including the MediaPad X1, which it touts to be the “world’s thinnest tablet,” during the Mobile World Congress. It looks miniature but it’s packed with enormous mobile technology capabilities.

The MediaPad X1 combines the functionality of a smartphone and tablet with 4G LTE connectivity to provide an all-round mobile experience. Its full-aluminum alloy unibody is compact and weighs less than a canned drink at 239 grams. Ultra-slim at 7.18 mm, the device provides outstanding comfort and ease of use, even when operated with a single hand.

Its seven-inch 1200 x 1920 FHD LTPS 10-point capacitive touch display provides an incredibly crisp and dynamic visual experience and features an outstanding 80 percent screen-to-body ratio.

The MediaPad X1 features content adaptive brightness control (CABC) technology together with a 515 nits brightness level to allow amazing visual clarity under direct sunlight, and also includes intelligent grip suppression so you can hold and scroll simultaneously.

The MediaPad X1 is powered by a Kirin 910 1.6 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The ultra-long lasting 5000 mAh battery provides an exceptional 21 days of standby time, more than five full days of continuous video or Web surfing, and also powers additional mobile devices with its reverse charging function.

The MediaPad X1 uses the “Super Decode Media Files” function to differentiate between file types to ensure the smooth streaming of media while preserving battery power, and the “Mail Grouping Service” which differentiates between various types of signals and mobile phone ringtones to organize messages.

For a picture-perfect selfie, the MediaPad X1 also makes professional-quality photography possible on a phablet with an advanced 13MP Sony Exmor R BSI rear-facing camera that has a five plastic elements (5P) lens featuring panoramic shooting and an IMAGESmart engine with auto-scene recognition.

The MediaPad X1’s 5MP front-facing camera has a four plastic elements (4P) lens and Huawei’s proprietary self-focus tips, preview screen, 10-level auto-facial enhancement and voice-activated hands-free capture.

“Since we launched our high-end and middle-range smartphone business around two years ago, we have already popularized our own brand,” Dai said.
