New Lenovo smartphones unveiled

MANILA, Philippines - Open Communications, exclusive distributor of Lenovo smartphones in the Philippines, has introduced Lenovo A60+ and Lenovo S880, two new handsets crafted for the Internet and social media savvy who want a healthy mix of design, applicable functions and super affordable price.

The successor to the best-selling Lenovo A65, the entry-level Lenovo A60+ offers a number of upgrades starting with its single-core 1GHz processor that provides better performance than the 800MHz processor built within the A65.

A 256MB RAM allows A60+ users to run multiple applications smoothly at the same time. Its 144MB internal memory can be easily beefed up to 32GB using a microSD card.

On a 3.5-inch HVGA display, users will find a lag-free and responsive interface that runs on Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread. The A60+’s PowerVR SGX53 GPU enables crisper images owing to its anti-aliasing capability.

Shutterbugs will be rewarded with a 2.0-megapixel camera with a Panorama mode that seamlessly stitches images together for a wider picture, in addition to other features like face detection, color effects and video recording.

Light and sleek, the A60+ comes in black with a curved finish and a textured back panel. It sells at only P4,999.

But for users looking for a more powerful device, the flagship model, Lenovo S880, is the unit to pick. For starters, it improves on the Lenovo P700’s screen size with a five-inch display, perfect for those looking for a phone-tablet PC hybrid.

A combination of a 1GHz processor and a 512 RAM runs the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich within the S880 smoothly. A 4GB internal memory provides ample storage but can be easily expanded through a 32GB microSD option.

The S880’s 2250mAh battery provides longer life for multiple applications. The Lenovo S880 retails at only P14,999 and comes in black or white.
