MANILA, Philippines - German audio specialist Sennheiser launched its inaugural concept store in the Philippines last week.
The concept store is the only single-brand headphones retail outlet in Manila that provides an experiential showcase of Sennheiser’s entire range of headphones, including audiophile, travel, sports, home entertainment, mobile, gaming, street, and the DJ lines.
Known globally for its top-quality audio products and innovative German technology, Sennheiser, with its Philippine headphones distributor, Iontech Inc., and retailer, Digits Trading, opened its first concept store at V–Mall (formerly known as Virra Mall) in Greenhills, San Juan City.
The flagship store is also part of Sennheiser’s broader strategy to demonstrate its brand leadership in Asia and to expand its experiential product showcases to consumers across the region.
“Today marks a significant moment for all of us at Sennheiser Asia. We recognize the potential in the Philippines and we are delighted to have finally been able to create this immersive sound experience for Sennheiser fans,” said Ng Chee Soon, president and managing director of Sennheiser Electronic Asia Pte Ltd.
“It is especially meaningful to us as we coincide this store opening with our 20th year celebration in Asia,” he added.
Sennheiser Electronic Asia Pte Ltd is fully owned by Sennheiser electronic GmbH & Co in Germany. It was formed in 1992 to oversee the Asian market, including Southeast Asia, Korea, and other Indian subcontinents market.
“This is an exciting period for us. With today’s consumers being more discerning and willing to spend on higher quality products, we will work with Sennheiser closely to provide audio solutions that support our consumers’ lifestyle and expectations,” said Ricky Sy, president of Iontech Inc.
Charlie Paw, general manager of Digits Trading, added: “We see a strong growth potential in the audio market in the Philippines. The collaboration with Sennheiser and Iontech allows us to establish a partnership with two strong players in providing good products and lifestyle solutions to this segment.”
The Sennheiser brand, which has a long established history in the audio industry, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of headphones, microphones and wireless transmission systems.
Founded in 1945 in Germany, Sennheiser has always stood for the highest quality audio products across all areas of sound recording, transmission and reproduction.
Over the years it has also created many firsts and solidified its position as one of the key inventors and thought-leaders in the innovation of sound technology.
“The Sennheiser culture has always been rooted in innovation and exploring what may be possible in the future. Our latest concept store is another step taken to continue our efforts in educating customers on our culture and belief in innovation and producing high-quality sound,” Ng said.
Taking center stage at the store opening was Sennheiser’s new premium headphones, the HD 700. These fully open dynamic stereo headphones combine high-end sound with an innovative headphone design.
“The HD 700 features a perfect combination of outstanding acoustic properties and sophisticated product design,” said Steven Ang, product manager for Sennheiser.
“Its styling and material selection have been thought through down to the finest detail in order to fully exploit the sound potential of the acoustic unit,” he added.
The ear cups are designed in such a way that the sound waves are directed to the ears at a slight angle. This results in an impressively natural listening experience. The ear cups themselves have a completely open design.
This not only ensures a highly transparent sound but also clearly displays the heart of these exciting headphones: the 40-mm Duofol transducer. Its powerful neodymium magnet systems guarantee detailed, lifelike audio reproduction from 10 to 42,000 Hz.
Also taking the limelight was the Sennheiser Amperior HD 25 DJ headphones.
“The Sennheiser HD 25 is already a legend on the DJ scene. It has been one of the most popular monitoring headphones for over 20 years, and has become an essential piece of equipment in the world’s most famous clubs,” said Ang.
The rugged headphones can cope with an extremely high sound pressure level and offer professional-level sound. Powerful neodymium magnets provide natural, lifelike sound reproduction with a frequency response of 16 to 22,000 Hertz.
The closed design reliably keeps out background noise, while the adjustable headband and low weight ensure a comfortable fit. The ear cups can be rotated for the classic DJ monitoring style: one-sided listening.
The star of the club scene is now hitting the streets in its luxurious new aluminum finish in silver or blue. The DJ headphones are equipped with a 3.5-mm stereo jack plug and the nominal impedance has been reduced to allow optimum connection to portable players.
For those who want to control Apple products such as an iPad, iPhone or iPod directly, an additional cable with an integrated smart remote is included. This can be used not only to regulate the volume and select tracks but also to take phone calls and activate the voice control feature.
The new Amperior will be available in the third quarter.
