Those who acquire the Asus Eee Pad Transformer will discover that it is not only a tablet for casual browsing and entertainment, but also for productivity and creativity.

MANILA, Philippines - Asus Philippines has officially announced the local availability of its much-awaited 10.1-inch Asus Eee Pad Transformer. This is the same tablet that immediately sold out upon its launch in North America last May.

While the vast majority of consumers buy tablets mainly for the Android Apps, those who acquire an Asus Eee Pad Transformer will discover that it is not only a tablet for casual browsing and entertainment, but also for productivity and creativity.

Powered by an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, this 12.98-mm super-thin Android 3.1 Honeycomb-powered device has a unique mobile dock which, with its full QWERTY keyboard and touch pad with dedicated Android keys, multiple I/O ports, 2 USB slots, a mini HDMI port, as well as MicroSD and SD slots, transforms the tablet into a full-fledged yet handy netbook-sized multimedia productivity machine.

The optional dock also extends the Eee Pad Transformer’s battery life from 9.5 hours to up to 16 hours. It has 1GB of memory and 16GB or 32GB of storage space.

This is one tablet power users can employ for content creation, intensive social communication, high-definition (HD) video playback, and smooth, realistic game play.

The HDMI port lets the Eee Pad Transformer connect to an HDTV and 5.1 surround-sound system to deliver a stunning multimedia experience. A 5-MP rear- and 1.2-MP front-facing camera can shoot and record HD videos and played back in stunning full-HD 1080p resolution.

Built-in SRS Sound technology provides a dynamic 3D stereo audio experience, with enhanced bass response and a wide sound field from the discrete speakers housed within the Transformer.

The Eee Pad’s LED-backlit WXGA IPS panel, made from durable and scratch-resistant glass, is viewable at angles up to 178 degrees. Its unique textured back offers good grip, is comfortable to hold, and offers a pleasant tactile sensation.

The Eee Pad Transformer retails for P22,990 (32GB) without the dock, and P29,990 (32GB) with the dock.
