Graphic, photo-video expos set to yield big business

MANILA, Philippines - The rising economy, widening supply chain and its growing need for industry and consumer marketing and advertising promotional materials practically ensure big business for the exhibitors at the Graphic Expo and Photo-Video Expo (PVX) 2010 slated at the SMX Convention Center on June 17-19.

Both expected to surpass their last year’s combined volume of 6,000 visitors, Graphic Expo and PVX 2010 have been tremendously eliciting inquiries from prospective exhibitors and seminar participants eager to have a piece of the action.

The exhibitors, according to event organizer Fiera de Manila Inc. (FMI), expect the twin events to surpass their last year’s visitor volume due to much improved economic and business activities this year, which is projected to surpass government forecast of a 2.6 to 3.6 percent growth.

“The creative industry is one of the priority sectors where the government sees opportunities for job generation, business activities and trade exchanges” said FMI vice president Norelyn Babiera.

“This year’s forecast is much higher than the 0.9 percent growth last year. So you can imagine the business volume to be generated in this year’s Graphic Expo and PVX, thus contributing to the Philippine economy,” Babiera added.

Last year, 30 percent of the twin events’ 6,000 visitors were professionals from advertising agencies and design studios, photographers, corporate communicators, and signmakers; 25 percent were businessmen, purchasing managers and executives of the top 3,000 corporations; 25 percent were commercial printers and publishers, 19 percent were advertising and marketing executives and IT professionals; and one percent from government agencies and the academe.

“The 2009 visitors generated booked orders, direct sales and supply contracts for the exhibitors, whose products and services practically covered all the digital technology needs of the industry — from supplies and equipment to entire systems and hard-to-find import items and even seminars and training,” Babiera said.

“This time, the Graphic Expo and the PVX can accommodate an even bigger number of exhibitors and have a wider industry and market coverage as we move to a much larger venue - the SMX,” Babiera said.

The twin events traditionally exhibit all the products and services requirements of desktop publishing/pre-press, digital photography and imaging, large-format advertising and signmaking, out-of-home, Web publishing, Internet, multimedia and animation, practically making both events an international marketplace for digital technologies and innovations and a venue for upgrading existing tools and for networking with experts.

Now on its 15th year, the Graphic Expo also includes a seminar series where creative professionals hone their skills and learn new software applications to enhance their digital workflow processes and operating efficiencies.

The seminar is open to all creative professionals in various levels — beginner, intermediate and advanced. The seminar series is conducted by Adobe Certified Experts and industry experts, both local and foreign.
