New innovative digital devices from Samsung

MANILA, Philippines - Samsung Electronics Phils. Corp. (SEPCO) unveiled its latest line-up of cameras and camcorders designed to meet consumers’ need for high-quality digital imaging and easy photo management.

Incorporating easy-to-use, industry-leading features, the products reinforce Samsung’s leadership of the digital imaging evolution as it seeks to become the world’s top imaging company.

“The way consumers take photos, when they take them, and the way they share them is changing,” said Candy Quinto-delos Santos, SEPCO product manager for digital imaging.

“As their needs evolve from solely image capture to include photo management, Samsung has focused on enhancing usability with technology advancements that help them take and manage their photos better while improving sharing and connectivity features,” she said.

“With our latest range of innovative products that provides a complete solution for shooting, sharing and enjoying, 2010 will be the year Samsung starts to become the leader in the camera industry. And we launched our line-up during one of the Philippines’ most colorful festivals - Pahiyas.”

To achieve this goal, Samsung is focusing on offering smart cameras that meet different consumer needs and creating intuitive user experiences through a combination of improved optical technology and strengthened connectivity with other consumer devices.

In line with this strategy, Samsung has created a mirrorless, interchangeable lens camera with the NX10, a new-concept camera with high definition, portability and usability.

It is also consolidating its leading position in the premium market by releasing premium compact camera models with cool design and high specifications, and has launched optical-based, high-end compact camera models to leverage its strength in optical technologies.

Dual LCD cameras are another focus area as Samsung seeks to establish an unassailable market position in the dual LCD camera category with the introduction of models that are accessible to the masses.

Samsung’s latest range of digital imaging products launched locally includes:

NX10

The NX10 combines the professional image quality of a DSLR with the excellent portability of a compact digital camera. It is complemented by a total of six lenses, each specifically designed to ensure that users get the most out of their photography experience.

These include the Compact Zoom Lens and the Pancake Lens, both of which give users a high level of optical performance without the bulk of other lenses on the market; and the Tele Zoom Lens and two types of Standard Zoom Lenses which feature intuitive technology and are optimized for professional results by delivering the ultimate in performance. All six lenses will be available by the end of the year.

The NX10 received the 2010 Innovative Digital Product Award from the Digital Imaging Marketing Association, given at the annual Photo Marketing Association show in Anaheim, California to products which utilize new technologies and/or applications that make the product either distinct or the first of its kind.

ST5000

A stylish, 14.2-megapixel digital camera, the ST5000 is fully loaded with an array of impressive features to meet the needs of consumers looking for a great all-in-one camera.

The model is the first consumer electronic product ever to be manufactured using hydro-forming technology, which produces smoother silhouettes, seamless bonding, and higher quality surfaces.

The camera features Samsung’s Smart Auto 2.0 scene recognition technology, which automatically recognizes the user’s current shooting environment and selects the most appropriate settings.

It also houses Samsung’s Smart Gesture touch-screen user interface, which enables users to access key features with either a simple tilt or a hand gesture. Smart Gesture also offers useful auto-focusing options such as object tracking and one-touch auto focusing. The ST5000 retails at P19,990.

PL151/PL101

The 12.4-megapixel PL151 and 12.2-megapixel PL101 cameras offer a variety of updated features that make it easier for users to capture their most precious memories with family and friends.

Users can now use the 1.5-inch front LCD to frame video in addition to digital stills. With the PL151, users can also enjoy 720p HD video recording at 30 frames-per-second (fps).

Both models have a Couple Shot feature which automatically snaps a picture when the subjects in the frame tilt their heads toward each other.

Also installed in the camera is Samsung’s popular Smile Shot feature, which automatically takes a photo when a smile is detected. The cameras also incorporate a Child Mode which plays a musical tune to better help capture a child’s attention in order to snap the perfect picture.

Additionally, the PL151 has the jump shot feature that tells you exactly when to jump, and can then take up to three consecutive shots to capture a perfect jump shot every time.

The PL151 is another 2010 Innovative Digital Product Award winner. The PL151 and PL101 retail at P13,990 and P9,990, respectively.
