Oracle Phils. has new head

Oracle (Phils.) Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Oracle Corp., has announced the appointment of Yashi Kant as managing director. He succeeds Bernard Yu, who held the position for 10 years.

Kant joined Oracle in 1994 in India as part of the Alliance and Channels team. Since then, he has been promoted to various management positions in the company, the most recent being the regional director for Alliance and Channels for Oracle South Asia.

In this capacity, he developed and implemented business strategies to enhance Oracle’s revenue and market share through indirect channels and partners, including system integrators, independent software vendors and value-added distributors, across the region.

Kant was also recently involved in helping establish Oracle’s indirect business in the rapidly growing China market.

With more than 16 years’ involvement in the IT industry, he has been actively involved in developing strategic relationships with key customers, partners and prospects.

"As a member of the Oracle senior management team for the last nine years, Yashi has extensive working knowledge of Oracle’s business in the Asia Pacific Region. He has proven to be a vital pillar of strength to the Oracle senior management team with his commitment to excellence and passion for Oracle. I am confident that Yashi’s strong leadership abilities and understanding of the Asia Pacific market will be key to spearheading Oracle’s position as the industry leader in enterprise software in the Philippines," said Mr. Keith Budge, regional managing director for Oracle South Asia. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bernard for his commitment over the past 10 years in leading the Oracle Philippines organization and we wish him success in his future plans."

"Oracle Philippines is uniquely positioned to offer industry-leading solutions and technology leadership, backed by global presence, support, and a network of strong local partnerships. I’m very excited to working closely with our partners and customers in the Philippines – from small-and-medium sized enterprises to global multinational corporations – to enhance their operations by developing and implementing effective e-business transformations. My aim is to help companies in the Philippines to accelerate their growth and compete successfully in the global marketplace," said Mr. Kant.

Mr. Kant holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electronics and Telecommunications and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from New Delhi, India.
