Advertise skills via Jobnet

Phil-JOBNET, the computerized job-matching system of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), is introducing an online skills posting feature to open more employment opportunities for "informal sector" workers.

The new feature of Phil-JOBNET will provide non-wage earners, such as painters, electricians, plumbers and other skilled, self-employed Filipinos, a means to advertise their services on the Internet.

Teresita Manzala, director of DOLE’s Bureau of Local Employment (BLE), said the new feature will enable Filipinos with skills to generate income or make their services or technical expertise available to those who need them.

Manzala said the feature will help "freelancers" or those who don’t want to work under an employer-employee relationship.

At the www.phil-jobnet.dole.gov site, they will be asked to fill out a form where they indicate their skills or the kind of services they are capable of rendering, as well as their areas of operations, contact numbers and e-mail addresses.

Prospective clients looking for particular services can access the list through the skills posting page which categorizes workers according to their skills.

Aside from this new feature, Phil-JOBNET has also included displaced workers and persons with disabilities (PWDs) in its registry of skills.

Manzala said jobseekers with no Internet access can inquire at the BLE office, second floor, Velco Center, 13th cor. Delgado streets, Port Area, Manila, tel. nos. 528-0084, 527-2543 or 528-0087.
