25by8, Sun Develop System For SEC iRegister Project

Now you can register your business with the Securities and Exchange Commission anytime from anywhere using iRegister, the recently launched Online Company Registration System.

Accessible through SEC’s website at sec.gov.ph, the service also allows the verification and registration of company names online.

The SEC iRegister project is part of the agency’s P165 million computerization program. It was undertaken by technology giant Sun Microsystems Phils., Inc. (SunPhil) in partnership with 25by8, a fast-growing enterprise software solutions provider led by Orlando B. Vea, founder and former CEO of Smart Communications.

25by8 was only recently signed up by SunPhil as an e-Applications Provider under Sun’s global iForce initiative and as a SunPhil Integration Partner. The two companies are now collaborating on several projects for both the public and private sector.

Aside from servicing large private entities such as Nestle, Unilever, IBM, Petron, Ayala Land, PASAR, Zurich Philippines and Bank of Tokyo, 25by8 addresses the web enablement requirements of government agencies as they pursue their compliance with the administration’s digitalization and e-commerce initiatives. The e-Commerce Law sets June 30, 2002 as a deadline for all government agencies to be on the web.

25by8 has positioned itself locally and globally in the "webification" or "web enablement" space. A Merill Lynch study of October 2001 cites webification among the major areas of opportunity in the next few years in the technology sector. Webification goes beyond website design and involves developing and integrating the backend systems of enterprises.

25by8 has sidestepped the crowded field in the purely web design business by successfully selling its unique capability to deliver both high quality creative services and the more technically challenging backend solutions.

The company is the only Philippine software developer given the prestigious Macromedia citation and featured in its website. A Silicon Valley company, Macromedia is the developer of the popular Flash Animation design tool.

25by8 bagged for Jimenez D’Arcy the top award for best ad agency website in the last Ad Congress of the Philippines. Further affirming its leadership role is its designation as the creator of the website for the 2001 Philippine Web Awards.

Partnerships with SunPhil and IBM further extends 25by8’s reach globally. It has completed engagements with a California-based technology company for logistics related solutions and a Canada-based company for secured identification systems.

Part of the company’s vision is to showcase the Philippines’ comparative advantage versus the rest of the world in enterprise solutions and web integration using the country’s highly-skilled IT professionals.

Other than Vea, 25by8’s principals include former NTC Commissioner Ponciano V. Cruz, Jr., former 3Com Country Head Gil Antonio G. Edeza, 25by8 founder Acmad Rizaldy P. Moti and Philippine Java Cup champion Emmanuel B. Lagare, Jr.
