Commenting on the new partnership, Viva Interactives managing director Nanette Medved said, "Viva is very excited. This is an ideal partnership in that Viva has loads of content that Yes may utilize for its publishing business, and Viva, which doesnt have a publishing unit, may take advantage of publishing content without having to build another business."
Asked whether this would mean that Yes would become a magazine that would be biased to Viva content, Medved said, "Absolutely not. Just because we have given them the right to cover our content doesnt mean that we gain editorial control over the magazine."
She added: "Besides, we like the independent nature of Yes. It will allow the upcoming Viva site to balance off its content especially in the beginning when we have very little access to non-Viva material."
Speaking for Summit Publishing, its president, Lisa Gokongwei, said, "Summit Media is very excited about reaching an even wider audience of Filipinos abroad through this partnership with Viva Interactive. Many dealers have called to inquire about selling YES! abroad. Weve done better than that and made it accessible on the Internet."
