Jessica, bumilib sa fans ni Alex

Tinaob ni Alex Eala ang lahat ng mga balita matapos niyang talunin ang American tennis superstar, ang World Number 3, si Jessica Pegula, upang mapanalunan ang Mubadala DC Open.

Nauna na niyang tinalo ang No. 9, No. 13 at No. 34 seeds sa nasabing tournament upang makuha ang kanyang kauna-unahang title sa hardcourt.

Siya rin ang unang Pilipinong player na nakapasok sa Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Top 30 at nakuha ang kanyang unang titulo sa WTA 500.

Na kahit si Pegula ay mang­ha kay Alex at sa rami ng fans ng Pinay tennis superstar na sumugod sa kanilang laban sa DC. Kaya ang umpire ay sinaway na ang ibang Pinoy na parang nanonood ng basketball kung tumili.

Anyway, tanggap na tanggap ni Jessica Pegula ang pagkapanalo ni Alex. “I wanna congratulate Alex on an amazing week and tournament. I don’t know how much more I can say. But you’re an amazing player. Just to see how far you’ve come over the last couple years when we first played, to see the amazing fans that follow you every place you go, it’s not fun to play against but I really appreciate the really fun atmosphere. I think it’s amazing. Congrats. All the best to you and your team and your coach.”

Sabi pa ng World no. 3 pagkatapos talunin ni Alex: “I can definitely confirm for a Monday final, this is the best Monday final crowd l’ve seen. I’m sure some people took off work. I won’t tell them where you guys were.”

At appreciated din ni Pegula ang fans ni Alex. “To all the Filipino fans that came out and have supported, you guys are helping grow tennis around the world. I appreciate that being a female athlete in tennis. We love to see that grow.”

Sa kasalukuyan ay World Number 20 na si Alex.

Samantala, number 9 naman si Alex sa most followed player ng WTA with 1.6 million follo­wers sa Instagram. Number 1 si Serena Williams na may 17.8 M followers.

Anyway, ‘yung akala mo hindi magkakaroon ng Pinoy player sa mga sikat na tennis tournament, ayan si Alex at pinatataob ang mga sikat at mahuhusay na tennis player sa mundo.
