ICD Phl Section to hold annual convocation

MANILA, Philippines - The International College of Dentists (ICD), Philippine Section will hold its 47th annual convocation and banquet this Sunday at the Solaire Resort and Casino in Parañaque City.

The ICD is an international honorary organization of dental professionals dedicated to the recognition of outstanding professional achievements, meritorious service and the continued progress of the dental profession for the benefit of the community. 

The ICD was founded in 1928 and the Philippine Section was established in 1966.

With the theme “Harnessing ICD Resources for Educational Outreach and Sustained Service,” the convocation will be graced by the International Council secretary general, Dr. John Hinterman, who will be the keynote speaker and inducting officer. 

Among the highlights of the event are the investiture of four new fellows and the induction into office of the new set of officers.

The new fellows are Drs. Marina Pilar Antonio, Joy Bautista, Ma. Carmen Aurea Elepano and Winston Sy. 

The new set of officers are Drs. Joseph Macasiray, president; Elaine Parlan del Rosario, president-elect; B/Gen. Reynaldo Torres, vice president; Vivian Gabaldon, secretary; Leticia Salvador, treasurer; Rosemary Young Chan, auditor; Ida Viloria, PRO; Liza Centeno and Preciosa Tanagon, directors; Elizabeth Carrasco, editor; and Hermogenes Villareal, councilman. The outgoing president is Dr. Norma Tiu.

Macasiray is past president of the Makati Dental Chapter of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) and the Philippine Academy of General Dentistry (a PDA affiliate). 

Currently, he is a special lecturer, reviewer and clinical supervisor in oral surgery at the University of the East College of Dentistry.
