Seminar for science educators slated in Davao City

MANILA, Philippines - The Science Club Advisers Association of the Philippines (SCAAP), in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd) and Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI), will hold the 2013 National Science Club Month (NSCM) celebration and the seminar-workshop for science educators on Sept. 26-29 at the Grand Men Seng Hotel in Davao City.

The theme is  “Science and Technology Trends for Science Educators of the K to 12 Curriculum.”

The seminar-workshop aims to assess programs and projects implemented in connection with the celebration of the NSCM; strengthen science and technology trends in the implementation of science teaching in the K to 12 science curriculum; enhance the knowledge and skills of science mentors for quality instruction (using the strategies in the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum); introduce new trends in S&T and find proper application in the classrooms in real-life situations; and recognize outstanding accomplishments of science clubs in each region.

Science club advisers, science teachers, department heads, school principals, administrators, district/division/regional supervisors and science enthusiasts from both public and private elementary and secondary schools nationwide are invited to attend the national event.

A registration fee of P4,900 shall be charged from each participant to cover accommodation and meals, seminar kit, T-shirts, reproduction of handouts, certificates, and honoraria of speakers and facilitators.

The participants are requested to confirm their participation on or before Sept. 20 through the SCAAP Reservation on a first-come, first-served basis.
