MANILA, Philippines - Leading pharmaceutical company Sanofi-Aventis Philippines has introduces a new dietary supplement designed to bring the many health benefits of fish oil to more Filipinos.
The product, Cenovis Fish Oil, an all-natural supplement, contains the rich, concentrated goodness of omega 3 DHA and EPA essential fatty acids that have numerous beneficial effects on the body, from helping maintain brain health and good skin to its anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties.
Cenovis brand manager Myrna Lim said Sanofi-Aventis intends to promote the benefits of fish oil to as many Filipinos as possible.
“Filipinos are generally fish eaters but it is hard to obtain the adequate beneficial amounts of omega 3 by eating fish alone, due to our usual ways of preparation” she said.
“Our bodies cannot produce these essential fatty acids, they have to be taken from external sources, and the primary way we can obtain concentrated amounts of omega 3 DHA and EPA is by ingesting fish oil,” she said.
“With our new supplement Cenovis, we have managed to pack the health-giving goodness of fish oil that will really be appreciated by consumers, in terms of three important considerations, namely health benefits, taste and price,” she added.
Omega 3 fatty acids found in fish oils are composed of essential fatty acids docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA).
While these fatty acids have already gained popularity as great heart protectors, various findings are now emerging to show their benefits in many aspects of a person’s health.
Sanofi-Aventis said Cenovis Fish Oil with Marine Cardio Protectors undergoes a thorough and unique process of extraction and distillation in Norway to come up with only the purest, most refined and most potent product. The proof lies in its completely odorless quality and absence of fishy aftertaste.
Furthermore, the company uses only small species of fish like anchovies, mackerel, and sardines, which are among the riches and cleanest sources of DHA and EPA in omega 3.
Because of their short life span, these small fish are less prone to accumulate environmental pollutants like mercury and other toxins than bigger fish.
The small fish are caught wild in Peruvian waters, one of the safest and most environmentally monitored locations in the world.
Lim explained that fish caught in open waters feed on micro algae and sea grasses that provide their bodies with omega 3, whereas fish grown in farms and ponds lack micro algae in their diet and therefore have poor levels of DHA and EPA fatty acids.
Cenovis Fish Oil comes in individually packed softgel capsules, each containing 1,000 mg of Omega 3 Marine Cardio Protectors.
Lim said that being a highly refined fish oil product, Cenovis dosage can be increased to twice or thrice daily. It is also best to take it in along with food and also consult your doctor.
While there have been reports of side effects like diarrhea and skin rashes, tests remain inconclusive about these findings.
Moreover, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given fish oil its GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) classification.
Cenovis Fish Oil, an Australian brand, comes in packs of either six or 60 capsules. At just less than P10 per capsule, this new product gives more Filipinos the chance to include the benefits of fish oil supplementation to their healthy lifestyle. The product is now available in all leading drug stores nationwide.
