Coaching can help supercharge potentials

MANILA, Philippines - When we hear the word coach, the picture that comes to mind is a sports coach, one who trains, develops and motivates a team of athletes to become champions in the playing field.

While coaching is indeed principally concerned with bringing out the best in people and helping them achieve their highest goals, it essentially applies to any field or aspect of one’s life.

The most popular types of coaching are life coaching, executive coaching and business coaching. Business magnates and celebrities such as John McCormack, Donna Karan, Oprah Winfrey, and Hugh Jackman are among the many who have attested to the positive benefits of coaching.

According to the International Coach Federation (ICF), the leading global organization for coaches with over 16,300 members in more than 90 countries, coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

The ICF explained that those who engage in a coaching relationship can expect to gain fresh perspectives on personal challenges and opportunities, enhanced thinking and decision-making skills, better interpersonal effectiveness, and increased confidence in carrying out their chosen work and life roles.

In its commitment to advancing the coaching profession, the ICF sets the highest professional and ethical standards; spearheads programs, training and research on coaching, as well as builds a global network of credentialed coaches.

In the Philippines, Benchmark Consulting is the first and only coaching, training and consulting firm providing ICF-approved coaching programs facilitated by a team of professionally trained coaches.

Benchmark is led by managing director Julius Ordonez who pioneered coaching as a profession in the country and founded the ICF Philippine chapter, where he develops coaches by sharing his knowledge and expertise.

For Benchmark, coaching unlocks the innermost potential of an individual through scientific processes involving productive, disciplined conversations and other learning reinforcement activities. The ultimate objective is to inspire a holistic transformation encompassing one’s personal and professional life.

Benchmark’s coaching programs include Coaching for Success, Conflict Coaching, Team Coaching and the Accelerated Coach Training Program, a four-month learning journey that enables aspiring coaches fulfill the education requirement for ICF accreditation.

Aligned with the directions of the ICF, these programs creatively combine practical coaching frameworks, interactive games and simulation activities that make for a fun, experiential learning thus easier for participants to absorb and translate insights into concrete results in their daily life and workplace.

On April 26-27, Benchmark will hold the Coaching for Success public workshop at Manila Diamond Hotel. Aspiring coaches are encouraged to take part in the program to know and learn the art and science of coaching and gain confidence to deliver effective coaching in the workplace or as an independent professional.

Benchmark’s Coaching for Success program is an ICF designated Continuing Coaching Education (CCE) course and awards 16 coach training hours to coaches who seek accreditation and re-certification with the ICF.
